Greg Allen christened The Neo-Futurists with the opening of his show 'Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind' - an ongoing experiment in performing '30 Plays in 60 Minutes' - on December 2nd, 1988, during the last lame days of the Reagan administration. Continuing its run in Chicago 50 weeks per year, it became the longest-running show in Chicago history. After 28 years, that run will come to a close on December 31st, 2016. (more...)

The Neo-Futurists announce their inaugural line-up for The Neo-Futurist Kitchen (a micro-festival on art and performance) with their 2016-17 Season, which includes three world premieres, multiple in-process initiatives and a 24-hour party. Can't Stop//Won't Stop: A 24-Hour Fundraiser with The Neo-Futurists launches the 28th season with local bands and pop-up performances, all benefitting the company's 2016-17 season and programs. The 28th season includes three full-length Prime Time productions: Saturn Returns created by Tif Harrison; The? Unicorn? Hour? created by Leah Urzendowski and Anthony Courser and The Food Show created by Dan Kerr-Hobert and Caitlin Stainken. The company continues its Neo-Lab residency, presenting Kirsten Riiber's Tangles and Plaques. In addition to beginning the 28th year of Chicago's longest running show, Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind, The Neo-Futurists expand their recurring storytelling performances with The Arrow, created by Kurt Chiang and Lily Mooney and explore a new Neo-structure through Nick Hart's The Infinite Whale. Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. is pleased to continue its 30th and final season with the world premiere adaptation of IBSEN'S GHOSTS, adapted and directed by Neo-Futurist Founding Director Greg Allen. Wrestling with the themes of identity, truth, fate and freedom, Allen puts his trademark meta-theatricality on Henrik Ibsen's scandalous 1882 play, Ghosts. Allen's unique spin on Mrs. Alving's classic battle with Pastor Manders includes humor, self-referentiality and a bit of irreverence in this, his first, and apparently last, show with Mary-Arrchie.
