BWW Reviews: The Rep's Uproarious Production of ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS
by Chris Gibson - Sep 16, 2014

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis opens their 48th season with one of the most hilarious shows I've ever been privileged to see. ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS (written by Richard Bean, but based on The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldini) is a brilliant work of pure farcical comic genius, and it's enhanced immeasurably by a bevy of equally appealing musical interludes (some really cool skiffle and beat songs by Grant Olding) that neatly transition the action from scene to scene. You have no excuse not the see this show immediately. It's a wildly funny ride that demands your attendance! (more...)

Berkeley Rep Adds ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS to 2014-15 Season
by BWW News Desk - Apr 11, 2014

Today Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced that it has added Richard Bean's internationally acclaimed smash hit One Man, Two Guvnors to its captivating collection of shows for the 2014-15 season. One Man, Two Guvnors is more than a sassy update of Carlo Goldoni's classic knee-slapper, A Servant of Two Masters. Set in 1960's Brighton, England, it's a brilliantly delicious mash-up of splendid comedy, British pantomime, and music-hall revues. The uproarious plot features a disarming and doltish Francis Henshall who finds himself trapped by farce into working for two bosses - who are connected in wildly improbable ways. He just has to keep them from discovering each other. Inspired insanity, high-low antics, and nimble wordplay ensue - all backed by live musicians paying homage to rockabilly and a certain Fab Four. Directed by David Ivers - artistic director of the Utah Shakespeare Festival - One Man, Two Guvnors is a riotous blast complete with a colorful cast of characters in a topsy-turvy world of love triangles and mistaken identities. It previews on Friday May 8, 2015, opens on May 15, 2015, and plays through Sunday June 21, 2015. The Theatre will announce one more subscription season production in the coming weeks. (more...)

DRUNK: Letting It Go
by Guest Blogger: DRUNK - Feb 03, 2014

I'm currently sat in the auditorium at the beautiful Bridewell theatre watching all the different departments darting around preparing for the imminent technical rehearsal to take place. I am sat in the back corner and I can see everyone. Perhaps the most exciting thing to me is that I am sat in the perfect place to see the excited faces of the dancers as they arrive one at a time and take in the performance space for the first time. It's theirs and they know it. (more...)
