Carmen High is conceived and directed by Stephanie Vlahos, based on the Bizet opera, Carmen. Carmen High is a theatrical mash up of opera, hip hop, original songs, and classical music that reinvents the opera of Carmen as the real American high school experience told through the authentic voices of gifted teenage performers. BWW Reviews: THE OLDEST PROFESSION Misses the MarkBWW Reviews: THE OLDEST PROFESSION Misses the Mark
by Frank Benge - Jun 7, 2015

Paula Vogel's play, THE OLDEST PROFESSION, is set in 1981, shortly after the election of Ronald Reagan. Set in a park, the play examines the lives of five 'working girls' at the end of their very long careers. The "girls" are Mae, a madam, and her stable: Ursula, Lillian, Vera and Edna. In between appointments with their gentlemen, the women reminisce about their early days in New Orleans' Storyville and review their finances and options today. Their clients are literally a dying breed: one has been kidnapped by his children, another thinks it's 1940 and is paying with silk stockings, some are hospitalized and may not be coming out. The financial situation is grave for Mae's stable. These girls aren't getting any younger. (more...)

BWW Reviews: SUFFER THE LONG NIGHT is a Riotously Funny Evening of Farce and LaughterBWW Reviews: SUFFER THE LONG NIGHT is a Riotously Funny Evening of Farce and Laughter
by Frank Benge - Dec 15, 2014

SUFFER THE LONG NIGHT belongs to that class of backstage comedies like NOISES OFF and FASHION: THE MUSICAL where the audience sees an actor playing an actor who is playing a character in a show. SUFFER THE LONG NIGHT first debuted in 2008 in Los Angeles and this production marks the first time it has been seen in Texas. Usually, these shows are about the performers plowing ahead in the face of everything under the sun going disastrously wrong. This variation on that theme is written by Greg Glienna & Mary Ruth Clarke, writers of the film "Meet the Parents". Glienna & Clarke take this genre to the max by having a fake "program" that wraps around the actual program and a pre-show that starts the moment you get your ticket. Once you've been asked "Have you had your flu shot?" the show has begun. (more...)

Human existence can be a pretty lonely, tenuous thing. When push comes to shove, our dependence on our friends (or even strangers for that matter) is something you should never take for granted. This is just one of the lessons you will take away from your visit to the Agape Actors Co-op production of 'Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks' currently playing in Georgetown in the East View High School's black box theater. by BWW News Desk - Sep 17, 2013

"When we're up and running with the first HIE integration deadline, it will be a big help for patients," said McAllister. He explained that patients in the hospital's physician practice group who are referred to the hospital for lab work, for example, currently must register a second time and provide often duplicate information. "It's frustrating for patients and takes extra time," McAllister said. "Using the RelayClinical Platform for HIE will be much simpler and easier." (more...)
