Last night the creative team of Georgie: My Adventures with George Rose celebrated after it's first preview and BroadwayWorld was there.

Producers Martin Platt and David Elliott with Mary Cossette, Jamie deRoy, Richard Winkler, and Mike Blank present the New York premiere of the critically acclaimed Signature Theatre production of Georgie: My Adventures with George Rose, the new play written by and starring Ed Dixon (Sunset Boulevard, LES MISERABLES) with direction by Eric Schaeffer (Follies, Million Dollar Quartet).

Earlier this year, producers for The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, the area's only year-round producing dinner theatre, announced the lineup of shows for its 2017 Season. Kicking off 2017's blockbuster year, will be the hilarious pirate farce, The Pirates of Penzance, opening in January.

Martin Platt and David Elliott (Perry Street Theatricals) announce a workshop presentation of Georgie: My Adventures with George Rose, directed by Eric Schaeffer and written by and starring Ed Dixon, on April 11, 2016. The presentation will run 90 minutes, with no intermission.

SHE LOVES ME was a forgotten musical until a Town Hall concert and a BBC television production revived interest.

The occurrence of February 29th every four years inspired one of Gilbert and Sullivan's most comical plot twists.

A hilarious farce of sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers, and an eccentric Major-General await you in Gilbert & Sullivan's (G&S) effervescent musical masterpiece The Pirates of Penzance, playing February 11 through March 6 in Santa Maria's Marian Theatre.

Signature Theatre's world premiere production of Georgie: My Adventures with George Rose, directed by Eric Schaeffer and written by Ed Dixon, is a powerful and passionate production that isn't the typical story of a mentor and mentee.

Today in 1981, Joe Papp's revival of THe Pirates of Penzance opened at the Uris Theatre, where it ran for 787 performances. The Pirates of Penzance is a comic opera in two acts, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert. The opera's official premiere was at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in New York City on 31 December 1879, where the show was well received by both audiences and critics. Pirates was the fifth Gilbert and Sullivan collaboration and introduced the much-parodied Major-General's Song.

 In a special limited engagement, Signature Theatre presents the world premiere production ofGeorgie: My Adventures with George Rose written and performed by Broadway veteran Ed Dixon (Broadway's Anything Goes, Signature's Sunset Boulevard). Directed by Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Gigi, Follies, and Million Dollar Quartet), this one-man play chronicles Dixon's relationship with his friend and mentor, the Tony-award winning character actor George Rose (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, My Fair Lady, Pirates of Penzance). Georgie: My Adventures with George Rose will play in Signature's ARK Theatre from January 8 - February 7, 2016. Directed by Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Gigi, Follies, and Million Dollar Quartet), this one-man play chronicles Dixon's relationship with his friend and mentor, the Tony-award winning character actor George Rose (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, My Fair Lady, Pirates of Penzance). Georgie: The Life and Death of George Rose will play in Signature's ARK Theatre from January 8 - February 7, 2016.

 Sharon Playhouse, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Simpkins and Managing Director Justin Ball, will present a developmental workshop of Ed Dixon's GEORGIE: The Life and Death of George Rose to kick off its 2015 Season from May 14-17 and May 28-31 in the Stage 2 at the Bok Gallery.
