DANCE NOW announces the lineup for the 2017 Festival ENCORE! The one-night-only performance will feature the 12 choreographers/companies selected by the DANCE NOW producers for having most successfully met the 2017 DANCE NOW Challenge: to create a clear and complete artistic statement in five minutes or less for the specifics of the stage at Joe's Pub.

On September 8, 2017, Delos Records will release the debut solo recording of American tenor John Osborn, whose “exquisite singing” (Opera Wire) has been widely sought by presenters and audiences throughout Europe and North America since winning the 1994 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions at the age of 21.

One of the nation's most innovative opera companies, Odyssey Opera, kicks off Trial by Fire: Joan of Arc and the Hundred Years' War, a season-long exploration of operatic works inspired by martyr, saint, and military leader Joan of Arc (1412-1431). 

On August 5, 2017, high in the Sierra Mountains of Nevada, Classical Tahoe presented four of San Francisco Opera's Adler Fellows in a program of music by Gaetano Donizetti, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Giuseppe Verdi.The Adler Fellowship Program is a multi-year performance-oriented residency for promising young artists that offers intensive individual coaching, professional seminars and a wide range of performance opportunities.

On July 21, 2017, Santa Fe Opera presented Ron Daniels' production of Gaetano Donizetti's bel canto work, LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR. Beginning with a storm and several huge rainbows, the open sides of Santa Fe Opera's Crosby Theatre allowed the audience to watch the sun set as the orchestra played the opera's overture. Based on Sir Walter Scott's novel, THE BRIDE OF LAMMERMOOR, the opera tells the story of a young woman who loses her reason when forced to marry a man she does not love.

Following Odyssey Opera's 2016-17 season dedicated to works inspired by the writings of Oscar Wilde, Artistic and General Director Gil Rose today announced the company's 2017-18 season: Trial by Fire: Joan of Arc and the Hundred Years War, featuring operatic masterpieces that tell the story of martyr, saint, and military leader Joan of Arc (1412-1431). Representing a wide range of styles, Odyssey Opera presents five operas that interpret the mysterious medieval world Joan inhabited. Opening the season is Tchaikovsky's The Maid of Orleans followed by L'assedio di Calais by Gaetano Donizetti, The Trial at Rouen by Norman Dello Joio, Jeanne d'Arc au Bucher by Arthur Honegger, and Giovanna d'Arco by Giuseppe Verdi.

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) announces the appointment of Lidiya Yankovskaya as the company's new Music Director.

Is this the real thing, or a conman's concoction?  All will be revealed, as the Boston Midsummer Opera (BMO) presents Gaetano Donizetti's The Elixer of Love for its twelfth season. Three performances will presented, on July 26, 28 and 30, at the Mainstage at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, Watertown (formerly the Arsenal Center for the Arts).

Amore Opera opens its 'Gypsy Season' on May 26th with George Bizet's Carmen at its new home, the Riverside Theatre on Manhattan's Upper West Side. This exciting production of Carmen will be presented in full production with a full orchestra conducted by Richard Cordova, with stage direction by Amore Opera's Artistic Director Nathan Hull.

Fort Worth Opera (FWOpera) announced today details of the company's full line-up of thrilling productions scheduled to take the stage during the 2018 season, running April 27 – May 13. In 2018, the company will offer opera lovers an entirely new Festival experience with the first production of Richard Wagner's magnificent fantasy opera Das Rheingold; Gaetano Donizetti's hysterical bel canto gem, Don Pasquale; and composer Astor Piazzolla's genre-defying tango opera, María de Buenos Aires. The Festival will also usher in the sixth year of Fort Worth Opera's critically-lauded new works showcase, Frontiers, featuring eight unpublished operas from some of the most talented composers and librettists in the 21st-century.

Today, from the Robert Morris State Street Gallery, Chicago Opera Theater (COT) announced plans for the 2017/2018 season, including a modern opera, a world-premiere co-production from a Pulitzer Prize-winning duo and a groundbreaking double-bill. At the announcement, Andreas Mitisek, COT's Stefan Edlis & Gael Neeson Artistic Director together with Douglas Clayton, COT's Executive Director, detailed the intriguing season with all productions staged at the historic Studebaker Theater (410 S.
