Patrick Hamilton's mystery thriller Gaslight will be opening Oct 8th on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage at Barrington Stage Company. BroadwayWorld was there for the curtain call at a recent preview.

On the penultimate night of the 2016 Cabaret Convention, presented by the Mabel Mercer Foundation, 11 fantastic cabaret artists---those who are celebrated in the form as well as those who are emerging alike---assembled to salute the late and legendary Sylvia Syms. The evening, hosted by one of Syms' closest confidants, the critic Rex Reed, was brassy, delivered wonderful anecdotes, and was ultimately very moving musically, much like Syms herself. A black and white photograph of Syms, accurately capturing her maternal warmth, hung high inside the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center throughout the evening, which was formatted in two distinct segments. Act One was comprised of each performer taking to the stage alone to sing one of Syms' lesser known cabaret staples, or the songs which she "rescued" from obscurity such as those cut from golden age musicals. Act Two saw the performers again take on a Syms staple, but those which were more well-known hits and standards, displaying the full range of Syms' nightclub chops.

New York Live Arts hummed with anticipation on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the premiere of Caterina Rago Dance Company's three-day run of Labir Into. In a bare, nondescript theater, the responsibility fell upon the company to dazzle, to make the space more than just four walls and a stage floor. Not only did they achieve this, but they transcended limitation, taking the audience on a thrilling journey.

Horror-thriller Darktales is the scariest show at the Fringe! 21 years ago audience members gasped, screamed, fainted or had to leave the theatre. This chilling, creepy play explores the myths and the stories that scare us at night, and the two men who write them. The conversation becomes a sinister exchange, a dark rivalry - but the men are linked by more than their writing - there is a strong smell of sexual jealousy! And the mysterious Lucy looms over their stories. Confronting each other by demonstrating the power of each of their writing styles, slowly reveals a dark secret, leading to a terrifying conclusion.

Best friend and host director John Bowab, Charlotte Rae, Janis Paige, critic Sylvie Drake, Peter White, Anne Jeffreys and Marty Wiviott of the Pantages Theatre, were among the select industry elite on hand to celebrate film and Broadway legend and icon, Patricia Morison's 101st birthday this week.
