The award-winning York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) is pleased to announce the star-studded roster of performers for its 19th Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre. The award will be presented to Tony Award-winning librettist Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray, Elf) on Monday, November 22, 2010. As previously announced, the evening is directed by Tony-winning director/lyricist/librettist Richard Maltby and the award will be presented by Alice Hammerstein Mathias, daughter of Oscar Hammerstein II.

THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS began previews on October 7 at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45th Street) and opened on October 31, 2010. THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS stars John Cullum as Interlocutor, Joshua Henry as Haywood Patterson, Colman Domingo as Mr. Bones, Forrest McClendon as Mr. Tambo, Sharon Washington as The Lady, Josh Breckenridge as Olen Montgomery, Derrick Cobey as Andy Wright, Jeremy Gumbs as Eugene Williams, Rodney Hicks as Clarence Norris, KendRick Jones as Willie Roberson, James T. Lane as Ozie Powell and Ruby Bates, Julius Thomas III as Roy Wright, and Christian Dante White as Charles Weems and Victoria Price. The production also features E. Clayton Cornelious, JC Montgomery, Clinton Roane and Cherene Snow.

THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, the exhilarating new Kander & Ebb musical, opened Sunday, October 31 at the Lyceum Theatre. Since it's celebrated opening, the show has been the target of protests, as was first mentioned on BroadwayWorld.com's Broadway Message Board HERE and is still be debated HERE. One poster calling for a boycott of the show asks: 'When is Racist Terrorism Musical Entertainment? Where is the Song and Dance Musicals about Gas Chambers, World Trade Center or Japanese Internment Camps?'

Vineyard Theatre Extends MIDDLETOWN Thru 12/5

Cortland Repertory Theatre, one of New York State's longest running professional summer theatres, will celebrate its 40th year of quality live theatre in the summer of 2011. Producing Artistic Director Kerby Thompson says 'Because CRT is so often called 'a gem of a theatre', the season will be dubbed 'The Ruby Jubilee' since the ruby is 40th anniversary gemstone.' As in the past few seasons, all six mainstage productions will be making their CRT debut.
