Music Theatre of Connecticut (MTC) will be celebrating the grand opening of The New MTC with a gala fundraiser on Saturday, September 27 at 7pm. The gala will take place at The New MTC, located at 509 Westport Avenue in Norwalk (behind Jones New York and Nine West Outlet). All proceeds will benefit MTC and its programming. Theater for the New City, Crystal Field, Executive Director, and The After Dinner Opera Company present two new American operatic musical adaptations from classical works, Seymour Barab's operatic parody Out the Window based upon Georges Feydeux's farce 'Par La Fenetre;' and Rappaccini's Daughter, based on Nathaniel Hawthorne's gothic short story, with libretto by Linsey Abrams and music by Michael Cohen. Lissa Moira directs. The Shakespeare Guild's 2014-15 season will open with a conversation that will launch the U.S. author tour for a biography that actress Helen Mirren calls 'a masterpiece about a genius.' Only John Lahr, she says, 'with his perceptions about the theater, about writers, about poetry, and about people, could have written this book.' John Lahr will discuss his acclaimed biography of Tennessee Williams on Wednesday, September 24, at 6 p.m. at The Players.

Paper Mill Playhouse will open its 2014-2015 season with a Broadway-bound, world-class revival of Can-Can starring Kate Baldwin as Pistache and Jason Danieley as Aristide. This fresh new production features direction by David Lee (Frasier, Cheers) and choreography by Patti Colombo (Paper Mill's Peter Pan, On the Town, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers). The show features a book by Abe Burrows (Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying) and a re-crafted script by Joel Fields (Ugly Betty, The Americans) andDavid Lee. Can-Can's score features some of Cole Porter's timeless classics including 'I Love Paris,' 'C'est Magnifique,' 'It's All Right With Me' and more. Paper Mill Playhouse is launching this Broadway-bound production of Cole Porter's classic musical with producing partner Jonathan Burrows. Can-Can will play the Millburn, New Jersey, theater from October 1 through October 26, 2014.
