Teatro Regio Torino to Launch First North American Tour at Harris Theater, 12/3

The Harris Theater for Music and Dance today confirmed that a major event of the 2014-2015 Harris Theater Presents season will be the North American debut performance of the Turin, Italy-based Teatro Regio Torino orchestra and chorus, under the leadership of Music Director and Conductor Gianandrea Noseda. Teatro Regio Torino will open its first-ever North American tour at the Harris Theater on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 7PM with a historic, one-night-only concert performance of Gioachino Rossini's opera William Tell. Teatro Regio Torino's four-stop tour-with performances in Chicago, Ann Arbor, Toronto, and New York's Carnegie Hall-also marks the first time an Italian opera house will tour an opera in concert form in North America. The December 3 production will feature soprano Angela Meade as Matilde, tenor John Osborn as Arnoldo, and baritone Fabio Capitanucci in the title role of Guglielmo Tell. Century old high jewelry house Buccellati, which recently opened a boutique on Oak Street, will be one of the sponsors for the debut performance at the Harris Theater. North American tour sponsors include Eataly, Lavazza and Del Cambio, a legendary Torino restaurant. Special events are being planned around this historic performance. (more...)

Dal 2 al 6 aprile, al teatro Golden di Palermo andra in scena, per la prima volta in Sicilia: 'Fantasmi a Roma - Una favola Musicale', uno spettacolo nato da un'idea di Simona Patitucci e prodotta da Nota Preziosa insieme a Enpi Entertainment ed Artes. Le musiche originali di Massimo Sigillo Massara saranno eseguite dal vivo dalla Palermo Art Ensemble e dai SeiOttavi, per la regia di Fabrizio Angelini, testi di Gianfranco Vergoni. Fantasmi a Roma ha ottenuto dieci nomination al Premio Broadway World Awards in diverse categorie tra cui: Miglior spettacolo con musiche originali, miglior attore protagonista, Miglior attrice protagonista, Miglior regia/coreografia, Miglior direzione musicale ed altri. Il cast e composto da attori di fama nazionale come: Carlo Reali, Simona Patitucci, Renata Fusco, Cristian Ruiz, Toni Fornari, Giancarlo Teodori, Giacomo Buccheri, Gaia Bellunato, Emiliano Geppetti, Elisa Marangon, Vasco Giovannelli, Fabio Monti, Carlotta Maria Rondana e la partecipazione straordinaria di Gianfranco Jannuzzo, nel ruolo del narratore. Danni Smith & Peter Oyloe to Lead Theo Ubique's PASSION; Cast Announced

Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre's production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Passion will feature three Jeff-Award lauded performers in its lead roles, Artistic Director Fred Anzevino has announced. The role of Fosca, the sickly woman obsessed with a handsome young soldier in 19th Century Italy, will be played by Danni Smith, who just last year was honored with the Jeff Award for Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in Bailiwick Chicago's production of the musical See What I Wanna See. Smith's win came after two previous nominations in the same category, for Theo Ubique's Pump Boys and Dinettes and Bohemian Theatre Ensemble's The Glorious Ones. Playing Giorgio, the military officer who is the object of Fosca's affections, will be Peter Oyloe, a three-time Jeff Award winner. Oyloe's recent win as best leading actor in a musical for 2013's Hank Williams: Lost Highway was preceded by wins for his leading role in Equus and supporting role in The Pillowman, both at Redtwist Theatre. Collette Todd, Jeff-nominated for her role as Giulietta in Theo Ubique's Aspects of Love and recipient of critical and audience raves for her leading roles in Light Opera Works' productions of Man of La Mancha, Oliver! and Annie Get Your Gun, will play Clara - the third member of Passion's love triangle. MoMA Pays Tribute to Production Designer Dante Ferretti with Multimedia Installation Today

The Museum of Modern Art honors Dante Ferretti (Italian, b. 1943) with a large-scale multimedia installation comprising a 12-screen labyrinth featuring projected scenes from his work; original set pieces from the films that earned him three Academy Awards; and a six-month retrospective of 22 films featuring the production designer's career-defining work. DANTE FERRETTI: DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION FOR THE CINEMA, on view from today, September 28, 2013 through February 9, 2014, features large-scale, original set pieces recovered from sets designed by Ferretti, including the chandeliers from Pier Paolo Pasolini's SALÓ, or THE 120 DAYS OF SODOM (1977) and the massive, illuminated clock from Martin Scorsese's HUGO (2011), as well as sculptural objects created for the Venice Film Festival.
