The Deep Dish Theater Company will kick off its 10th Anniversary Season with Mi Vida Loca, a smart and sexy comic drama by Eric Overmyer. Staged by Artistic Director Paul Frellick, the play will run August 27 to September 18 at the Companys home in University Mall.

Jimmy Smits is set to host 'A Capitol Fourth' for PBS on July 4. This year will be the 30th Anniversary of the special 4th of July celebration. The show will include a concert and fireworks.

Cinnabar Theater has announced its 2010 to 2011 season, which includes comedies, musicals and a new play entitled 'Dracula,' written expressly for Cinnabar Theater by playwright and screenwriter Eric Overmyer the writer of hit HBO shows 'The Wire' and 'Treme.'

Mel Gussow, in his New York Times review of 'On the Verge...' wrote, 'Blending Tom Stoppard's limber linguistics with the historic overview of a Thornton Wilder, Mr. Overmyer takes his audience on a mirthful safari that leads from darkest Africa to Terra Incognita, spinning into time travel.'

It seemed an unlikely concept: whip up an evening of delight largely on the strength of a love of modern slang and consumer culture. Yet this froth of logophilia works just fine, in a champagne flute of a show.

ON THE VERGE opens in 1888, as the three adventurers - Fanny along with Mary and Alexandra - make landfall 'somewhere east of Australia and west of Peru.' Refusing Sherpas, bearers or other native guides, they brave the hills and jungles of 'Terra Incognita' with only the most essential items, including machetes, rope, umbrellas, butterfly nets, watercolors, peacock feathers, lemon drops and a rhinestone tiara for official meetings with local poobahs.
