Earlier today it ws announced that Side Show will close at the St James Theatre in January, and according to the New York Times, Something Rotten! might takeover the space. A New York City developmental lab was held this fall, under the direction of Casey Nicholaw. Leading the cast (of the Lab, and not necessarily future productions) were Christian Borle, John Cariani, Allen Fitzpatrick, Brian d'Arcy James, Beth Leavel, Brad Oscar, Kate Reinders, Jeff Steizter, and Gerry Vichi. It was announced today, Jeff Beck will headline a string of solo dates, beginning April 16th with a pair of intimate engagements in Huntington, New York before wrapping up on April 26th in Greensburg, PA. Beginning April 30th in Cedar Park, TX, Beck and ZZ Top will make-up the rescheduled dates from this past September when the hugely successful double-bill tour was cut short due to an unfortunate injury to ZZ Top bassist, Dusty Hill. In December of 2013, Geva Theatre Center was selected as a recipient of a prestigious grant from the Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation to create a multimedia celebration on the life and work of legendary blues guitarist, Son House. The 18-month project, entitled "A Journey to the Son," will bring together musicians, writers, artists and the area's leading regional theatre company in a "creative collision" to celebrate one of Rochester's own, Eddie "Son" House. The project will culminate in a four-day celebration in August weaving together stories, music, theatre, film, audio recordings, storytelling and lectures. (more...)
