Signature Theatre presents John, written by Pulitzer Prize winner-Annie Baker (The Flick) and directed by Tony Award-winner Sam Gold (Fun Home). The production, which kicks off Signature's 25th Anniversary Season, will now play through Sunday, September 6. John began performances on July 22 and opens tonight, August 11, in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that Hamlet In Bed, written by Michael Laurence and directed by Lisa Peterson, will begin previews Friday, August 28, at 8pm at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place.  Joining Mr. Laurence in the cast is Annette O'Toole.  The official opening night is set for Thursday, September 10; the production will run through Sunday, October 25. The Berkshire Playwrights Lab (BPL) will present the next play in the free Staged Reading Series on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at 7:30 pm at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. The play follows Great Barrington's Dig+Dine outdoor dining event. 'Match,' by critically-acclaimed playwright Jennifer Maisel, is the story of a much-needed kidney, the donor and her intentions and the lives the decision to give impacts. 'Mother of the Maid,' a play first presented through Berkshire Playwrights Lab's Free Staged Reading Series, is now in full production at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox. (more...)

 Williamstown Theatre Festival (Mandy Greenfield, Artistic Director) kicked-off rehearsals for the first two productions of its 61stseason. Rehearsals are in full swing for the first two shows, Off the Main Road on the Main Stage, featuring Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner Kyra Sedgwick in the World Premiere of a play by Pulitzer Prize-winner William Inge, and Legacy 0n the Nikos Stage, with Tony Award nominee Jessica Hecht and Drama Desk Award-winner Eric Bogosian in Daniel Goldfarb's World Premiere. Both casts arrive in the Berkshires ahead of performances that begin on June 30.  Margot Harley, who co-founded The Acting Company with John Houseman in 1972, will step down as its Producer effective the end of this year.  The Acting Company began with the first graduating class of Juilliard's Drama Division, which included Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, David Schramm and David Ogden Stiers.  "They were classically trained, superbly talented and had worked together for four years," stated Ms. Harley. The play, which will premiere at Lincoln Center Theater's LCT3 this fall, will be introduced to audiences at a reading at Williamstown Theatre Festival on Friday, August 7 at 3:00pm on the Nikos Stage.
