MGM Television, Eagle Pictures and Barbary Films have started production in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on a 10-part television series event for premium cable network EPIX, an MGM company, based on the bestselling European novel by Joël Dicker, THE TRUTH ABOUT THE HARRY QUEBERT AFFAIR, which has sold more than two million books worldwide and was translated into more than 25 languages.

Based in part on the 1990 Elmore Leonard novel of the same name, the 10-episode original series follows Miles Daly (O'Dowd), a hitman from Nevada who tries to become a movie producer in Hollywood as a means to leave his criminal past behind and win back his recently-estranged family.  There, he meets Rick Moreweather (Romano), a washed up producer of low quality films who is desperately hanging on to the rungs of Hollywood relevancy and begrudgingly becomes Miles' partner and guide through the maze of show business.  See a special sneak peek from the new series below!

Premium cable network EPIX® has set the premiere date for its original series GET SHORTY. The 10-episode dark comedy from MGM Television, based in part on the 1990 best-selling novel of the same name by Elmore Leonard, will debut on EPIX Sunday, August 13 at 10:00PM ET/PT, 9:00PM CT.

From May 12 through 14, 2017, Museum of the Moving Image presents Crime Scenes: Donald Westlake on Film, an all-35mm screening series, featuring the most successful and interesting films based on Westlake's books.

Santa Barbara Writers Conference co-founder Mary Conrad and her creative literary and film team, will launch a book and film titled, 'Santa Barbara Writers Conference Scrapbook,' in early 2017. Each project uncovers the conference's early days at the Miramar Hotel, and its untold tales and photos of literary Who's Whos, during their annual pilgrimage to the beachside writing retreat. Conrad, the quick-witted wife of the late Barnaby Conrad, author of 'Matador' (the book Hemingway said he wished he'd written), organized a team of creative pros to see her project to fruition. The book is due for a first quarter publishing launch and the film has been submitted to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

The 45th Annual Santa Barbara Writers Conference (SBWC) opens its Early Bird Registration today to writers from all over the world. The acclaimed literary event will be held at the oceanfront Hyatt Santa Barbara, from June 18-23, 2017.
