Frank Sinatra Celebration Set for Palmer House Hilton, 11/28

The Palmer House Hilton is proud to announce dinner, dancing and an all-star performance in celebration of the centennial of Frank Sinatra's birth, Saturday, Nov. 28 in the legendary Empire Room within the Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe St. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour followed by, a three-course gourmet dinner with choice of entrée, and wine service then a special “Tribute to Frank” featuring Chicago's top cabaret performers Joan Curto, Shelley MacArthur, Paul Marinaro, Beckie Menzie, Tom Michael, and Johnny Rodgers. The birthday party concludes with dancing to The City Lights Orchestra conducted by Rich Daniels until 11 p.m. Single tickets are $125, with VIP tickets, which include premium seating and an open bar throughout the night, are $150. Three Cat Productions is excited to announce its third full season, three world premieres of new works by Chicago playwrights, produced in partnership with the Chicago Park District's Berger Park Cultural Center at 6205 N. Sheridan Road. The 2015/16 season kicks off in fall with Death in a Beulah, a play by Barbara Wells, about three 'transplants,' or African Americans who have escaped to the queer-friendly North Side. For the holidays, Three Cat presents Holiday Stories, nine playwrights explore what it means to be an outsider on the biggest, most commercial, and most televised event of the year! . Playwrights include David Bald, Hope Hommersand, Susan Lieberman, Paul Moulton, Paul Pasulka, Lisa Scott, Fouad Teymour, Helen Valenta, and Joe Weintraub. The season concludes in spring with the newly revised musical revue, At Mister Kelly's, about the history and music of Chicago's Rush Street's legendary night club with original music and lyrics by Gary Gimmestad. On November 13, 2015 at 8:00PM, The New York Pops, led by Music Director Steven Reineke, will continue its 33rd season at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage with Sophisticated Ladies, featuring Montego Glover, Capathia Jenkins, and Sy Smith. The concert commemorates the centennial year of the birth of Billie Holiday and also celebrates other groundbreaking icons of American popular song, from Ella Fitzgerald to Sarah Vaughan to Dinah Washington.

20th Annual Billie Holiday Vocal Competition winner Kerensa Gray will perform 'Jazz Legends: The Essential Women of Jazz' on Friday, October 23 at 7:30 pm in the Ware Center's atrium. Kerensa Gray is often compared to the likes of jazz royalty - Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, and contemporaries such as Diana Krall. This performance is a look back at the women of jazz who continue to captivate generations with their unique voices and stories woven into the history of this country, as well as a glimpse of some favorite contemporaries. All tickets include complimentary beverage service which begins at 7:00 PM with concerts beginning at 7:30 PM. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster.
