Acclaimed Director Rider McDowell will debut his original dramatic play, 'Fringe Deaths,' on New York's Off-Broadway this spring. Based upon the final hours of the lives of four American 'noir' icons-Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer, George 'Superman' Reeves, Jack Ruby, and Barbara Payton-'Fringe Deaths' will be presented Off-Broadway in four standalone mini acts. She sees a seemingly innocent little girl running around and playing with her mother Geraldine Page. When the film is over, she steps forward ever so slowly into the spotlight and addresses the audience fearlessly, 'My mother is haunting me.' At that precise moment, we sense we are in good hands. There's nothing like escaping from the real world…just when we need it most! That's why the Windham Theatre Guild is staging a great get away show, with a Connecticut twist! It's the Main Stage production of The Game's Afoot by Ken Ludwig, winner of the 2012 Mystery Writers of America's Edgar Allen Poe Award for Best Play…opening Friday, November 4th at the Burton Leavitt Theatre.   The Game's AFoot features Connecticut's own William Gillette, best remembered as the first actor to be universally acclaimed for portraying Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famed detective Sherlock Holmes, a role Gillette first played on stage in 1899 and continued for more than 35 years.
