BWW Reviews: POE'S LAST STANZA Stands Without Fourth Wallby Cybele Pomeroy - Nov 6, 2014
If you're from Baltimore, you probably know there's no shortage of shows about the city's unofficial mascot, Edgar Allen Poe, often by impersonators who speak in the poet's voice. You may have seen one or more of them. I think I am personally acquainted with three actors who pay tribute to Baltimore's Bard. (more...)

Loretta M. Green-Warren to Publish Second Children's Bookby BWW News Desk - Oct 8, 2014
Local author Loretta M. Green-Warren recently signed a contract with Tate Publishing to publish her second riveting, adventure-filled children's book, 'Chyna's Adventure with Pleasant Pete.'
'Chyna's Adventure with Pleasant Pete' shares an adventure like no other in which Chyna and Miss Penny were not prepared for the surprise they encountered when she enters her secret place. Will Chyna have the courage to help Pleasant Pete save Ratsville from Chubby and the mean cats?
Warren's imaginative style combined with her experiences of motherhood served as inspiration for the unique story. 'My inspiration for this book stems from being a child with a very active imagination then having the privilege of watching my own children use their gift of imagination. This inspired me to want to share the power of imagination with all children,' shared Warren. 'After writing the first book, Chyna's Secret Place Adventure, the character had more adventures to share therefore Chyna's Adventure with Pleasant Pete came to me less than one year after the first book's release.'
Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book will be available upon its release through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.
Warren is the host and producer of an online radio show and an amateur photographer. She has spent most of her life surrounded by children. She is the oldest of eight kids and spent several years as a childcare provider.
The very first spark for Warren's love for poetry and writing came from reading Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven. She could see the story in her mind, which ignited a passion for writing like nothing she had experienced before. Warren is now a published poet and children's author and believes that there is nothing more important that God and family. She is a mother of five, is married to the love of her life and lives in South Carolina.

Merchant's House Museum Presents Sprited October Eventsby BWW News Desk - Sep 27, 2014
Each October, the Museum opens its doors for a series of "spirited" events thematically built around its unusual reputation. Since work first began in 1933 to convert the untouched 1832 rowhouse on East Fourth Street in New York's then-forlorn Bowery District into the jewel of an historic house now called the Merchant's House Museum, stories of unexplainable and downright eerie occurrences have been rampant. BWW Interviews: Back to the Exam Books for Mad Cows's THE HISTORY BOYSby Justin J Sacramone - Aug 24, 2014
As schools are opening their doors and welcoming students back, class at the Mad Cow Theatre Company is also back in session with a production of Alan Bennett's 2005 Tony Winning Play, THE HISTORY BOYS. My review on the production, running through September 7th, will be up early next week. In the meantime, I was able to interview some of the cast members. Instead of your basic interview with straightforward questions, I kept with the spirit of Bennett's scholastic play by passing out the blue books with three open-ended questions about some of the themes from the play. Although these answers will not be graded, I am sure if Irwin took a glance at them he would not be regarding them as "abysmally dull". (more...)
Dave Malloy's GHOST QUARTET to Play Bushwick Starr, 10/8-11/1by BWW News Desk - Aug 18, 2014
Award-winning composer Dave Malloy presents a new song cycle about love, death, and whiskey. A camera breaks and four friends drink in four interwoven narratives spanning seven centuries: a warped fairy tale about two sisters, a treehouse astronomer and a lazy evil bear; a retelling of Edgar Allen Poe's 'The Fall of the House of Usher'; a purgatorial intermezzo about Scheherazade and the ghost of Thelonious Monk; and a contemporary fable about a subway murder. Throughout these four stories two women (Brittain Ashford and Gelsey Bell) cross paths, sometimes as strangers, sometimes as sisters, sometimes as lovers, sometimes as mother and daughter. (more...)
