A pre-Thanksgiving Holiday Treat is in store for the whole family when Randy James' all male dance company, 10 Hairy Legs, and invited female guest artists will dance James' The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College on Sunday, November 20 at 3:00 pm for public audiences and again onMonday, November 21 at 10:00 am for school groups. The Martha Graham Dance Company announces the promotion of five Company members for the 2016-17 season. Abdiel Jacobsen and Xin Ying have been promoted to Principal Dancer, and Charlotte Landreau, Lloyd Mayor, and Lorenzo Pagano have been promoted to Soloist. 

10 Hairy Legs, the all-male repertory dance company, returns to New York Live Arts for its fourth consecutive New York Season for four performances June 23-26.  Continuing to showcase the company's extensive repertory that celebrates and explores the artistry of the male dancer, this season features 3 World Premiere works and the return of David Parker's “Slapstuck.”

The Steppenwolf saga gets a new treatment in the world premiere of Steppenwolf - a musical retelling. Written and composed by 21-year-old Dutch protege Jochem le Cointre (class of 2016), The first ever staged adaptation of Hermann Hesse's classic novel, originally published in Germany in 1928, the show features a 15-piece chamber orchestra; an ensemble of students from The New School's College of Performing Arts; a cast of New York City actors and singers, including several from The New School's Mannes School of Music, School of Drama, and Lang Theater; and dancers from the renowned Martha Graham Dance Company. Choreography is by Tadej Brdnik, the former principal dancer of the Martha Graham Dance Company. Two performances will be staged on May 11 & May 12, 2016 at 7pm at The Auditorium at The New School, 66 West 12th Street, New York, NY 10011.  Tickets are free (first come, first seated) and can be reserved by visiting EventBrite.

A heavenly aura flooded through the regal New York City Center this past Thursday night at the MasterVoices premiere of Henry Purcell & Nahum Tate's baroque opera, Dido and Aeneas. With a full orchestra, the MasterVoices choir, and the Doug Varone and Dancers company, this unique production created a majestic escape of light, sound, and movement for audience-goers. But the crème de la crème was the other-worldly talents of lead vocalists Kelli O' Hara & Victoria Clark, both geniuses in their own right, as they created the perfect balance of good and evil, sweet and sinful through every note.
