Tom O'Neil, author of the LA Times Gold Derby column, has revealed that fan favorite, Neil Patrick Harris, has just been granted a third 2010 Primetime Emmy nomination for his performance as the 2009 Tony Awards host in the category of Special-Class Program. Why the delay, as nominees were announced on July 8? An oversight, according to O'Neil.

Amongst the nominations were Broadway vets Lea Michele and Matt Morrison for Best Actress and Actor in a Comedy and GLEE for Best Comedy Series.

Stars Joel McHale (Community) and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) will join Television Academy chairman/CEO John Shaffner on Thursday, July 8 for 5:30 a.m. ceremony, live from Goldensom Theatre in Los Angeles.

Last night, the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences discussed the possible decision, one that would cause the Oscars® to precede the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and BAFTA Awards ceremonies.

Many of the major categories were announced this morning on 'CBS News' 'The Early Show,' by Bree Williamson (Jessica Brennan on 'One Life to Live,' ABC) and Travis Stork ('The Doctors,' Syndicated) including the naming of the Lifetime Achievement honoree, Agnes Nixon, the grand dame of Daytime serial drama.

Producer Sid Ganis announced today that Don Mischer Productions will join him in producing the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Second Annual Governors Awards. One or more of the Academy's highest honors - the Irving G. The 17-piece band includes guitarists Dean Parks (America, Steely Dan), Ray Parker, Jr. (Raydio, 'Ghostbusters'), keyboardist Michael Bearden (Michael Jackson's last music director), Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Tom Scott, bassist Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stones) and percussionist Lenny Castro (Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton). The all-star ensemble will be on-stage throughout the show.
