Newgrass/bluegrass/rock quintet the Punch Brothers unleash instrumental and vocal fireworks Sunday, July 6 in the St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights concert series. Created by mandolin virtuoso -- and youngest ever MacArthur genius grant winner -- Chris Thile (formerly of Grammy-winning Nickel Creek), this edgy string band features the 20- and 30-something all-stars of a genre loosely defined as bluegrass. Folk singer, Willie Watson, opens the Punch Brothers concert, which starts at 7 p.m. (gates open at 5:30 p.m.) at Deer Valley Resort's Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. Lawn and reserved seating tickets are available.

After accidentally cutting his left hand with a kitchen knife while at home Thursday night, singer/songwriter Chris Young underwent surgery in Nashville yesterday to repair damaged tendons. As a result of the injury and surgery, the 28-year old is unable to take the stage as planned at LP Field tonight to play for tens of thousands of fans at CMA Music Festival in Nashville. Young, who was released from the hospital this morning, is expected to fully heal and will return to playing guitar following his recovery and rehabilitation.

Carrie Underwood, an 11-time Academy of Country Music Award winner, co-penned a song specifically for the Academy's military tribute show, ACM PRESENTS: AN ALL-STAR SALUTE TO THE TROOPS. Carrie's performance of “Keep Us Safe” will debut during the broadcast airing this Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 9:00 PM ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.
