Finalists Named for Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Grand Finals Concert, 3/18

The Metropolitan Opera today announced the names of nine finalists who will sing in the 2012 National Council Auditions Grand Finals Concert on March 18 at 3:00 p.m. with the MET Orchestra conducted by Andrew Davis. The finalists are: Janai Brugger, soprano from Darien, IL;Anthony Clark Evans, baritone from Owensboro, KY; Matthew Grills, tenor from Newton, CT; Will Liverman, baritone from Virginia Beach, VA; Margaret Mezzacappa, mezzo-soprano from Euclid, OH; Andrey Nemzer, countertenor from Moscow, Russia; Kevin Ray, baritone from Cornwall, NY; Lauren Snouffer, soprano from Austin, TX; and Michael Sumuel, bass-baritone from Odessa, TX.

The Valley Performing Arts Center at California State University, Northridge unveiled its 2012-13 season today, highlighted by a diverse array of renowned international orchestras, innovative dance companies, emerging artists and legendary Broadway icons. The Valley Performing Arts Center's 2012-13 season, featuring more than 30 performances, kicks off on Sept. 13, with the Asphalt Orchestra, and runs through May 19, with opera soprano Deborah Voigt.

Deborah Voigt's Brünnhilde Returns to Met's 'Ring' in April

Fresh from her recent turn in Gotterdammerung at the Metropolitan Opera Deborah Voigt crosses the Atlantic to sing the Ring's climactic "Immolation Scene" in concert with the Hamburg Symphony (Feb 18-19). Voigt again takes center stage in New York whenthe Ring tetralogy returns to the Met (April 7-May 12) for three complete cycles. Voigt's Brunnhilde was transmitted worldwide in February when Gotterdammerung was featured in the ever-popular Met Live in HD series, and the singer will return as host of that series on April 14, when La Traviata is beamed to cinemas internationally.
