Just as the Met’s debut of Mexican composer Daniel Catan’s FLORENCIA EN EL AMAZONAS (FLORENCE IN THE AMAZON) began the other day, a member of the audience yelled out “Viva la ópera en español!” (“Long live opera in Spanish!”). And that was before a single note of the composer’s lyric, highly accessible and heavy-on-the-Puccini score was played.

The Met’s popular Summer HD Festival returns on Saturday, August 28, featuring a lineup of ten free encore presentations from the company’s popular Live in HD series, as well as a special pre-festival screening of Susan Froemke’s acclaimed documentary The Opera House.

The Dallas Opera will make the company’s popular 2019 production of Mozart’s family-friendly The Magic Flute available free for home viewing for a limited time. This fanciful, wildly colorful production was originally simulcast live in high definition to a Dallas audience at Klyde Warren Park.

The Met has announced a specially-curated, three-week schedule for its Nightly Met Opera Streams, a free series of encore Live in HD presentations and classic telecasts streamed on the company website during the coronavirus closure. The schedule includes an All-Verdi week, a 20th-Century Classics week, and an All-French week.

World renowned artist David Pittsinger will be performing his heart warming holiday show, "The Ivoryton Playhouse Christmas Hour" from December 5th through 8th at the Ivoryton Playhouse. An old fashioned Christmas celebration of holiday standards and sacred songs, the evening will feature David with his wife, Patricia Schuman, son Richard, Carly Callahan, Ryan Bloomquist and Anna Fagan.

The Ivoryton Playhouse is honored to present a Veterans Day Concert on Monday, November 12th at 2pm and 7:30pm. Arlington Sons will be performed by David Pittsinger and his son, Richard Pittsinger.  This moving piece was personally commissioned by David to honor his late father - a US Army veteran and distinguished guard at Arlington National Cemetery.

On March 21st, 2018 The Ivoryton Playhouse opens its doors for a new season - a year full of exciting, affordable professional theatre. Plays for romantics and plays for cynics; shows for families and shows by and about women;  music from the movies and Broadway as well as timely new comedies and shocking stories of dark secrets - the Ivoryton Playhouse 2018 season has something for everyone and more than you ever expected.

Houston Grand Opera (HGO) will present its 2018-19 season in its creative home at Houston's Wortham Theater Center after a year of displacement due to damage to the building from Hurricane Harvey. The 64th season will open October 19, 2018, with HGO's first performances in 20 years of Wagner's romantic ghost story The Flying Dutchman, in a new production featuring baritoneAndrzej Dobber as the Dutchman and the role debut of award-winning American soprano and HGO Studio alumna Rachel Willis-S rensen as Senta. To close the season, the new Kasper Holten production of Mozart's Don Giovanni featuring the HGO debut of baritone Philippe Sly in the title role and the role debut of soprano Ailyn P rez as Donna Anna will be presented in repertory with The Phoenix, a world premiere about the colorful life of Lorenzo da Ponte, Mozart's librettist for the masterful Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro, and Cos fan tutte. The new work, written by composer Tarik O'Regan and librettist John Caird, will star renowned baritone Thomas Hampson as Lorenzo da Ponte in a belated HGO debut and bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni as Da Ponte's son, Lorenzo. HGO will also present a revival of Daniel Cat n's ethereal Florencia en el Amazonas with internationally acclaimed soprano and HGO Studio alumna Ana Mar a Mart nez in the title role; the first HGO presentation of Bizet's The Pearl Fishers with the stellar tenor and baritone pairing of Lawrence Brownlee and Mariusz Kwiecien in the title roles along with soprano Andrea Carroll; and the return of HGO's 2012 production of Puccini's perennial classic La boh me, featuring the role debut of soprano and HGO Studio alumna Nicole Heaston as Mim .

Cornell, Riverside Theatre's Producing Artistic Director, and Ken Clifton, Riverside's Musical Director, have teamed up to create a special theatrical event showcasing some of the most beloved music by Broadway legend, Richard Rodgers. My Romance: The Work of Richard Rodgers takes place on the Stark Stage today, November 14, 2017.
