A communications strategist and entrepreneur with deep experience across sectors, Johnson joins Lincoln Center effective immediately. In this newly created position, Johnson will unite all of LCPA's strategic communications and marketing functions.

The Apollo Theater and SiriusXM announced today that they will present Say It Loud…With Your VOTE!, a bi-partisan political special at the Apollo on Thursday, November 1 at 7:00 pm.  The exclusive event, produced in association with SiriusXM, is part of the Apollo Theater Uptown Hall series and will air across multiple SiriusXM channels debuting on November 2.

On November 1, 2018, The New York Landmarks Conservancy will host its 25th Living Landmarks Celebration at The Plaza.  In addition to Chita Rivera, this year's honorees are Stephen S. Lash, Lynden B. Miller, Liz & Jeffrey Peek, Thomas Sculco MD, Ruth Lande Shuman, Michael I. Sovern and Peter Stangl.  The host for the evening is Living Landmark David Patrick Columbia, and music will be provided by Living Landmark Peter Duchin and his Orchestra.  Living Landmarks Arie L. Kopelman and Leonard Lauder are Honorary Co-Chairs for the evening.  More than 500 guests are expected to attend this 25th annual tribute.

 More than 480 business and philanthropic leaders, influencers, older adult advocates, and cultural patrons gathered at the Ziegfeld Ballroom Monday at the fifth annual Eight Over Eighty benefit gala hosted by The New Jewish Home. The nonprofit paid tribute to eight New Yorkers who, in their ninth and tenth decades, continue to live lives of remarkable achievement, vitality, and civic engagement. The event raised $1.1 million to support The New Jewish Home, one of the nation's largest and most diversified nonprofit older adult health care systems, providing rehabilitation, skilled nursing and health care programs, which serves 12,000 older adults of all faiths and ethnicities annually.

Celebrities and other luminaries will converge on Gotham Hall in Manhattan as award-winning actor Jeffrey Wright and acclaimed artist Carrie Mae Weems are honored by The Brotherhood/Sister Sol (Bro/Sis), a nationally recognized, Harlem-based nonprofit and youth development organization, as it heads into its 22nd year transforming young lives. Other notables attending the organization's 13th annual VOICES benefit include actors Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale and Michael K. Williams, the Honorable David N.  Dinkins, 106th mayor of New York, the Honorable Cyrus Vance, New York County district attorney, film and television producers Terence and Rachel Winter, New York Times columnist Charles Blow and DJ Beverly Bond, founder and executive director of Black Girls Rock! The event, which takes place on Thursday, May 11, at Gotham Hall in Manhattan, is expected to draw 500 supporters.

'The Boy Who Opened Our Eyes' is Released

Lightswitch Learning honors National Poetry Month with the release of their recently published children's picture book, The Boy Who Opened Our Eyes. The book was inspired by a poem written by the author, Elaine Sussman, over 60 years ago for a fifth-grade homework assignment. The book fulfills Ms. Sussman's lifelong dream of sharing the story of her blind younger brother, Mark, with the goal of encouraging kids to achieve greatness regardless of any disabilities or challenges they may face.
