San Jose Rep Theatre presents a World Premiere, Musical adaptation of THE SNOW QUEEN, Hans Christian Andersen's fantastical coming-of-age adventure. As you follow Gerda's journey through an unimaginably dangerous and whimsical world with singing flowers, a chattering crow and a talking river to save her friend, Kai, you'll realize this isn't your average bedtime story. An original pop rock score that propels a legend suffused with urban steam punk flair and the enigmatic Snow Queen, turn this traditional fairy tale into an epic quest. Chicago Opera Theater dives into the pool again for a remount of its highly successful production of Ricky Ian Gordon's Orpheus & Euridice in partnership with the Chicago Park District in collaboration with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events as part of the Classics in the Parks series. Following the sold-out run of four performances at the Eckhart Park Pool in the West Town neighborhood in early November, COT will bring three additional performances to Lincoln Square on December 19, 20, and 22 at the Welles Park Pool. The exhibition features a 'mini show within a show', taken directly from The Lion and Lamb Gallery's 'Summer Saloon' exhibition. The Lion and Lamb is an artists run space, located in the back of an East End pub.

Cameron Mackintosh has just announced principal casting for his forthcoming new production of Miss Saigon. Assembled from around the world, this exciting international cast includes Jon Jon Briones as 'The Engineer', Eva Noblezada as 'Kim', Alistair Brammer as 'Chris', Tamsin Carroll as 'Ellen', Hugh Maynard as 'John' and Rachelle Ann Go as 'Gigi'. Billy Crystal will return to Broadway this fall for a 9-week-only limited engagement of his Tony Award-winning, record-breaking play 700 Sundays. This will mark the final engagement of this production. Previews began Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street) with opening night scheduled for tonight, November 13, 2013 and a final performance set for Sunday, January 5, 2014. 700 Sundays is performed and written by Mr. Crystal with additional content by Alan Zweibel and direction by Des McAnuff.

Out of a pool of 155 young, aspiring opera singers from across the country, the Canadian Opera Company has selected nine to compete in the third annual COC Ensemble Studio Competition on November 26, 2013 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. The Ensemble Studio Competition is the feature event at the COC's first annual fundraising gala, Centre Stage, an evening dedicated to the discovery and celebration of the next generation of opera stars.
