Guy Hepner Gallery to Present The Connor Brothers' TRUE LOVE STORIES, 11/22-12/5
by Tyler Peterson - Nov 7, 2013

Guy Hepner Gallery (300 N. Robertson Blvd. West Hollywood 90048) presents 'True Love Stories', the Connor Brothers' first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, opening Friday, November 22, 2013. Following their sold out London exhibition, controversial twins Franklyn and Brendan Connor return to home soil for their highly anticipated first US solo show. Both critically and commercially successful, the twins continue their scathing and humorous exploration of relationships in the digital age. Take any painting in True Love Stories and it might make you smile; when taken as a series however, a perceptive and disturbing critique of contemporary American culture begins to appear. It is this combination of irreverence and humor on one hand and highly critical and penetrating content on the other, which has garnered the Connor Brothers such an enthusiastic international following.

If you are ever in Harlem make sure you visit the Apollo Theater. In an effort to recapture that bygone glory, the theater is presenting Apollo Club Harlem, an enterprising and captivating attempt not only to revive the jazz spirit of 125th Street, but rekindle it as well for a new generation of jazz and pop music enthusiasts.

Met Museum to Display Rylands Haggadah, 14th Century Hebrew Manuscript
by Mark Valdez - Apr 4, 2012

An illustrated 14th-century Catalonian haggadah from the collection of the John Rylands University Library of Manchester, England, will be displayed in the Gallery for Western European Art from 1050 to 1300 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art beginning March 27. A haggadah is the book used at the Passover seder, the ritual meal that commemorates the exodus of the ancient Israelites from Egypt. Works of art from the Museum's own collection, made for Christian use, but depicting the saga of the Hebrew people, will suggest the larger, medieval context of biblical storytelling in which the Haggadah was created.
