During the final week of Goodspeed Musicals' slick and sexy hit City of Angels, the company participated in a nightly audience appeal. To everyone's delight, this year's fundraising garnered more than $6,500 for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, William Finn, et al. Set for 2012 AMERICAN SONGBOOK Series

Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook returns to the elegant Allen Room in January for its fourteenth season celebrating the diversity of American popular song. For 16 nights the series will explore the best of the golden age of musical standards through to today's most dynamic songwriting. Week One of the 2012 season will start off with a relatively new composer on the scene, multiple Tony-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights) who will be bringing his new rap composition about American historical figure Alexander Hamilton called The Hamilton Mixtape. Next up is the just-nominated-for-a-Grammy Award duo Chris Thile and Michael Daves, who play a dazzling, modern form of bluegrass that nonetheless references legendary bluegrass artists from the past. From the rock canon will be J.D. Souther, performing songs he wrote for Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles as well as newer compositions. To close out Week One, composer William Finn (Falsettos, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), along with guest vocalists, will be performing a song cycle inspired by the poetry of William Blake.

On Monday, November 21, Goodspeed Musicals will hold their Annual Food Drive to benefit the East Haddam Food Bank. Goodspeed will be collecting donations in the hopes that they will have another record-breaking year for participation. The need is great this year as the number of households served by the East Haddam Food Bank has more than tripled in the past couple of years.

END OF THE RAINBOW to Play Broadway's Belasco; Cumptsy, Pelphrey & Russell Join Cast

Producers Lee Dean, Laurence Myers and Joey Parnes announced today that the complete cast of the Broadway premiere of End of the Rainbow, a new play with music, is in place. Michael Cumpsty, Tom Pelphrey and Jay Russell will join two-time Oliver Award-winner Tracie Bennett in Peter Quilter's acclaimed play about the legendary Judy Garland. Directed by the Tony® Award winning Terry Johnson, End of the Rainbow will begin performances on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Belasco Theatre, with an opening night now set for Monday, April 2.

The Ed Sullivan, Steve Allen, & Hollywood Palace shows have disappeared from the TV schedule years ago. Television audiences were always tremendously entertained watching an engaging host, presenting a separate and diverse group of performers in these musical, fun filled hours.
Jamie deRoy performer/host has been delighting cabaret audiences for the past 21 years with these type of variety shows. Her special birthday celebration show at the Metropolitan Room included a mixture of talented troupers who rose to the task of entertaining Jamie's Broadway Producer and industry friends in the celebratory audience.
