Paper Mill Playhouse, recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award, has announced casting for the hit Broadway musical Mary Poppins based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney Film with original music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, book by Julian Fellowes, new songs and additional music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, and co-created by Cameron Mackintosh. The Geffen Playhouse today announced that Downton Abbey star Allen Leech will make his U.S. stage debut opposite Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon a Time, Big Love) in the Los Angeles Premiere of Constellations, Nick Payne's 2015 Broadway sensation. The Geffen's production is directed by Giovanna Sardelli (Guards at the Taj) and marks Goodwin's Los Angeles stage debut. (more...)

The body-swapping duo in Cleveland Play House's (CPH) musical production of Disney's Freaky Friday will be played by Heidi Blickenstaff (Broadway's Something Rotten!) and Emma Hunton (Broadway's Spring Awakening). Blickenstaff and Hunton will reprise their roles as Katherine Blake (mother) and Ellie Blake (daughter) from La Jolla Playhouse's production, which launched a three-theatre co-production that will move to Cleveland Play House and conclude with a run at Houston's Alley Theatre.  Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) has been awarded a Theatre Communications Group Audience (R)Evolution Travel Grant for Executive Artistic Director, Raymond Bobgan, and Director of Community Ensembles, Faye Hargate, to meet with artistic leaders across the country who are currently engaged with Arab-American and Middle Eastern populations to gather best practices for developing work for and with these communities. Theatre Communications Group (TCG), is the national service organization for professional theatres in the United States. Funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (DDCF), Audience (R)Evolution is a nationally recognized program that includes travel grants to sixteen teams of TCG Member Theatre staff and community stakeholders to observe effective audience engagement programs and strategies to deepen relationships with communities they serve.
