BWW Review: FOREVER PLAID Musically Encourages Everyone to Follow Their DreamBWW Review: FOREVER PLAID Musically Encourages Everyone to Follow Their Dream
by Shari Barrett - Feb 28, 2017

FOREVER PLAID by Stuart Ross is a musical that lends itself to offering audiences a goofy, charming musical escape, and is considered one of the most popular and successful off-Broadway musicals in history. Having never before seen a production of it, I have always been curious why those who have either been in a production or seen the show are such outspoken fans of it. Those involved with the show speak of the 'brotherhood of Plaid' that exists between those who have performed or directed the show previously, with the understanding that if called upon at any time to take part in a production of the musical, it would be a crime to not jump in and make the show an audience favorite. So when I was invited to the current production at the International City Theatre in Long Beach, I jumped at the chance to see what all the fuss is about. (more...)

BWW Review: Troubies Rock Falcon Theatre with LITTLE DRUMMER BOWIEBWW Review: Troubies Rock Falcon Theatre with LITTLE DRUMMER BOWIE
by Don Grigware - Dec 12, 2016

The Troubadour Theater Company's Little Drummer Bowie was first presented at the Falcon in 2005, and with the fairly recent passing of iconic musician David Bowie, it seems the perfect time to bring it back. For many Bowie and rock are synonymous, just as director/founder Garry Marshall and the Falcon have been synonymous. Both Marshall and Bowie passed away in 2016. They brought music, love and laughter to the world through the arts, so The Troubadour Theater Company is paying tribute to both men with the revival of this production. (more...)

BWW Review: The Troubies and Getty Villa Throw a HAUNTED HOUSE PARTYBWW Review: The Troubies and Getty Villa Throw a HAUNTED HOUSE PARTY
by Ellen Dostal - Sep 9, 2016

Troubadour Theatre Company's classless clowns of classical comedy go rogue in their latest adaptation at the Getty Villa. Taking generous liberties with the source material (Plautus's Mostellaria) they reinvent the over-2000-year-old play as HAUNTED HOUSE PARTY, A Roman Comedy in their own unique style. Yes, it's definitely 'a comedy tonight.'  (more...)
