The Forks & Hope Ensemble has opened A Hero's Journey at Jackalope's Frontier in Edgewater.

After four years as a resident company in Strawdog Theatre's Hugen Hall, The Forks & Hope Ensemble is producing their first fully devised work at Jackalope's Frontier this August. A Hero's Journey uses Joseph Campbell's 'hero's journey' theory to explore humanity's impulse to tell and re-tell stories of mythological heroes. Using the ensemble's trademark playful, movement-based aesthetic, each performer goes on their own heroic journey, which reveals parallels to their own lives. Audience members can expect to meet epic characters like Odysseus, King Sejong, and Psyche on a human scale in an intimate, imaginative setting.

Strawdog Theatre Company's second production in its 2015 - 2016 Hugen Hall season is the world premiere of ROBIN HOOD AND MAID MARIAN, adapted by Forks and Hope and based on Alfred Lord Tennyson's The Foresters, running now through December 29, directed by Matt Pierce at Hugen Hall in Strawdog Theatre Company, 3829 N.
