Local Blues Bands to Join BB King, Robert Randolph and More at Indian Ranch Blues at the Beach, 7/13

Blues at the Beach at Indian Ranch just got bigger. The show featuring B.B. King with Robert Randolph and The Family Band and Shemekia Copeland on Sunday, July 13 has added three regional blues bands to the lineup. The ThrowDown Band, The Cannibal Ramblers, and Ten Foot Polecats will all perform on the Indian Ranch Corral Stage starting at 12noon. The main stage festivities begin at 2:00PM making it a day of non-stop blues on the lake. (more...)

The National YoungArts Foundation, with the generous support of The Related Group, announces the inauguration of the YoungArts Residency in Visual Arts, the first of several residency programs in the visual, literary, design and performing arts the organization is developing as it expands its support of the next generation of artists in the United States and strengthens its place as a creative-catalyst for Miami's growing cultural landscape. The YoungArts Residency in Visual Arts will be extended to at least three outstanding visual artists a year, offering them the opportunity to become immersed in the Miami community while developing their work. The program will welcome the accomplished painter Suzanne McClelland as the inaugural artist in residence starting in June 2014. (more...)

Musician Chris Young Undergoes Hand Surgery to Repair Tendons

After accidentally cutting his left hand with a kitchen knife while at home Thursday night, singer/songwriter Chris Young underwent surgery in Nashville yesterday to repair damaged tendons. As a result of the injury and surgery, the 28-year old is unable to take the stage as planned at LP Field tonight to play for tens of thousands of fans at CMA Music Festival in Nashville. Young, who was released from the hospital this morning, is expected to fully heal and will return to playing guitar following his recovery and rehabilitation. (more...)

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) congratulates the 50th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars, announced today by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. The 20 Scholars in the Arts, all 2014 YoungArts Winners, were nominated to The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars by YoungArts, and selected based on academic, civic and artistic achievement. The award, presented on behalf of the President of the United States, is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an artistically talented graduating high school senior.
