City Parks Foundation's SummerStage is proud to announce the 26th Anniversary celebration of the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival. The free festival is New York City's annual salute to the legendary late saxophonist, featuring storied veteran players as well as young jazz musicians who continue to shape and drive the art form. This year's festival runs August 22 through August 26 at parks and venues around Manhattan and will include free concerts, panel discussions, and workshops - focused in Harlem where Parker worked and in the East Village where Parker lived.

The George London Foundation for Singers has been honoring, supporting, and presenting the finest young opera singers in the U.S. and Canada since 1971. The foundation and the George London Awards (the prize of the foundation's annual competition) are named for the legendary Canadian-American bass-baritone, one of the greatest opera singers of 20th century, who devoted much of his time and energy in his later years to the support and nurturing of young opera singers.

America's longest running summer chamber music festival, Music Mountain, continues its summer of Beethoven on Sunday, July 8 (3pm) when the Shanghai Quartet performs Beethoven Quartet Cycle Program #5. The Connecticut favorite Jive By Five kicks off the weekend playing the best of the jazz age on Saturday, July 7 (6:30pm)! Concerts are scheduled through September 23.

City Parks Foundation is thrilled to announce the 2018 season of SummerStage, New York City's largest free outdoor performing arts festival, bringing more than 100 performances to Central Park and 17 neighborhood parks throughout the five boroughs. This year's festival, presented by Capital One, will showcase over 200 unique artists hailing from New York City and around the globe, performing shows across a diversity of genres and disciplines, including indie-rock, hip-hop, Latin, jazz, R&B, salsa, opera, contemporary dance, and spoken word.

The Great Yorkshire Fringe Comes To York This July

The hugely popular The Great Yorkshire Fringe will bring an eclectic mix of comedy, theatre, cabaret and magic shows, as well as the best food and drink the North has to offer to York for an eleven-day festival. Now in its fourth year, the festival offers a wide variety of entertainment for everybody from proud Yorkies to the curious under-tens; the magic show admirer to the jazz connoisseur. All served up with a feast of food stalls and cementing itself as one of the biggest events in York's cultural calendar, The Great Yorkshire Fringe celebrates York's recently attained title of the Sunday Times' 'Best Place To Live In The UK' 2018. The festival will put the City Centre in the spotlight as it transforms Parliament Street into a village green with the spectacular White Rose Rotunda and Turn Pot Spiegeltents, and host events at the stunning Grand Opera House and pop up venues throughout the city.

Town Hall's Broadway by the Year series closes its 18th acclaimed season with a finale that will feature the musicals from 1988 and 2017 alongside a cast of nearly 35 performers, including the Broadway by the Year Chorus, the Broadway by the Year Dance Ensemble (under the direction of Danny Gardner), and these great stars: William Michals (Emile de Beque in the Lincoln Center production of South Pacific), Brian Charles Rooney (critically acclaimed in the recent Broadway revival of The Three-Penny Opera), Farah Alvin (Drama Desk Nominee and veteran of 5 Broadway shows), Rebecca Faulkenberry (Nancy on Broadway in Groundhog Day), Danny Gardner (2X Drama Desk Winner, Dames at Sea, Star of Radio City Summer Spectacular), and Marina Jurica (The Singing Meteorologist from CBS-TV, Christine in the National Tour of The Phantom of the Opera).

The BMI Jazz Composers Workshop, a longstanding program for aspiring jazz music composers, will present the best new big band and jazz orchestra compositions created during the past year at the 30th Annual Summer Showcase Concert. The BMI/New York Jazz Orchestra, a 17-piece modern repertory ensemble made up of leading New York musicians, will be featured at the event held at The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater (10 West 64th Street) onThursday, June 14th at 7:30 PM. The show is FREE and open to the public with seating first come, first serve. Doors will be at 7 PM.

ARTS46/4 Presents POV: The Seven Deadly Sins, a Curated Gallery Exhibit and Ekphrastic Event

On Saturday, June 16th, at 6pm, ARTS46/4 presents POV: The Seven Deadly Sins, an ekphrastic event in conjunction with the curated exhibit on display in the on-site art gallery at First Unity Spiritual Campus.  The gallery is open on Sundays between 9:30am and 1pm, and can be viewed by arrangement during the week.  The exhibit hangs through June 30th, and all of the art is available for purchase.             

All That Jazz! Hoff-Barthelson Music School Jazz Students Perform in Chase Park

Students from Hoff-Barthelson Music School's Jazz Studies Program perform a program of jazz standards entitled "All That Jazz" in Scarsdale's Chase Park, 32 Chase Road, on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at 5:00 pm. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be held at the Music School, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale. The concert is free of charge.

New York Youth Symphony Season 2018/19 Announcement

New York Youth Symphony (NYYS), is proud to continue its mission of providing an outstanding music education and performance opportunities to students between the ages of 12-22 by launching a new Musical Theater Composition program aimed at diversifying the world of musical theater. The new director and performance information is expected to be announced in summer 2018. Also new in 2018/19 the NYYS Orchestra and Chamber Music Programs will tour together for the first time ever to Spain in 2019, where they will explore cities including Madrid, Granada, and Seville.
