From magical fairy tales by Ravel to Milhaud's zesty South American samba, a brisk, neo-classical chamber piece by Stravinsky, and a lyrical and exciting violin concerto by the young Prokofiev, the Columbus Symphony, Music Director Jean-Marie Zeitouni, and CSO featured violinist Alicia Hui present an intriguing program showcasing the bright, appealing music composed during the first quarter of the 20th century.

CHAPLIN is a new musical depicting the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin, with music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and book by three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan and Christopher Curtis, opened on Broadway on Monday, September 10, 2012. Previews began Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Warren Carlyle directs and choreographs the production.

The Alden's Classics of the Silent Screen series returns for its second year by popular demand from the growing fan base for "silents." Featuring live accompaniment and introductions by a film historian and preservationist, the series has been giving audiences more of what they've been craving since tasting "The Artist." Tickets for each film are $10/$6McLean district residents.
MoMA, FSLC to Host 42nd New Directors/Films in March 2013; Now Open For Submissions

The Museum of Modern Art and the Film Society of Lincoln Center will present the 42nd edition of New Directors/New Films (ND/NF) from March 20-31, 2013. This year's festival will welcome two new programmers to the ND/NF team, FSLC's Director of Year-Round Programming, Robert Koehler, and MoMA Associate Curator Joshua Siegel, who have replaced FSLC Program Director Richard Peña and MoMA Senior Film Curator Lawrence Kardish. Peña will step down from his role as Program Director at the end of the year and Kardish retired in October. The New Directors/New Films selection committee members from both presenting organizations include: from the Film Society of Lincoln Center, Robert Koehler, Marian Masone, and Gavin Smith; and from The Museum of Modern Art, Jytte Jensen, Rajendra Roy and Joshua Siegel.

This weekend, ABC-7 will air a half-hour special on the best of the new Broadway season, including AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, ANNIE, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, CHAPLIN, DEAD ACCOUNTS, THE HEIRESS and THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. The special will air Saturday, November 10 from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

The physical comedy ensemble Parallel Exit is back by popular demand. The Black Box hit returns with their new comedy, "Room 17B." Known for works which blend theatre, dance, and music, Parallel Exit celebrates the styles of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton with a dash of Monty Python. "Room 17B" will run tonight, November 8th-11th in the Kutz Black Box Theatre.

CHAPLIN, a new musical depicting the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin played by Rob McClure, with music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and book by three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Christopher Curtis, opened on Broadway on Monday, September 10, 2012. Warren Carlyle (Finian's Rainbow; Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway) directs and choreographs the production.
The company was in the studio on yesterday, November 5 to record a cast album and BroadwayWorld was there for the festivities. Check out behind the scenes photos below!
