August Strindberg Repertory Theatre (www.strindberg.org), which was formed in 2012 to illuminate Strindberg's plays for today's American audiences, will present the English language premiere of Strindberg's 'Mr. Bengt's Wife' (1882), directed by Craig Baldwin (Associate Artistic Director of Red Bull Theater) September 13 to 29, 2013 at the Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond Street, where August Strindberg Rep is the resident company. 'Mr. Bengt's Wife' has been characterized as Strindberg's answer to Ibsen's 'The Doll's House.' It utilizes realism, expressionism, melodrama and dreamscape to tell the story of the rebellious Margit, whose quest to become an independent New Woman catapults her from a convent to a castle, where her husband and two lovers vie for her attention.

For the second year in a row, the UH School of Theatre & Dance has been named 'Best College Theater' in the Houston Press' Theater Awards. Faculty and students will accept this honor during the official awards ceremony Aug. 26 at Phoenicia MKT Bar (located in downtown Houston).

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola has announced that Fetch Clay, Make Man, written by Will Power and directed by Des McAnuff, will begin performances tonight, August 23 at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Opening night is set for Thursday, September 12 at 7pm. Fetch Clay, Make Man is scheduled to run through Sunday, October 13; tickets are on sale now.

Whistler in the Dark Theatre is pleased to announce a season-long celebration of Caryl Churchill in honor of the playwright's 75th birthday. The series, which kicks off in November with The After-Dinner Joke, and culminates in April with Far Away, will include readings, panel discussions and a special series of radio plays.

The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre(The Gamm) opens Season 29 with an exciting and provocative double bill of one-act plays by acclaimed British playwright Caryl Churchill (Top Girls, Cloud Nine). A Number, directed by Gamm Resident Director Judith Swift, and Far Away, directed by Gamm Artistic Director Tony Estrella, explore the perhaps not so distant future by way of science fiction and fable.

Sundance Institute and the LUMA Foundation previously announced that the two organizations would collaborate to host The Sundance Institute | LUMA Foundation Theatre Directors Retreat at Domaine de l'Armelliere, today, July 29 - August 9, in Arles, France. Under the supervision of Philip Himberg, Artistic Director of The Sundance Institute Theatre Program, Producing Director Christopher Hibma and Program Associate Anne Kauffman, the Retreat will be the first theatre director-centered residency at the Institute.

PTP/NYC announced today that Stephanie Janssen has joined the cast of Howard Barker's The Castle and will perform in select shows in the role of Skinner. Stephanie Janssen's Broadway credits include recent productions of Death of a Salesman and Mrs. Warren's Profession (Roundabout), and her Off-Broadway credits include Clive (The New Group), Ivanov (Classic Stage Company), Territories (PTP/NYC) and Crave (PTP/NYC).

PTP/NYC's 27th anniversary season opened on July 10 at The Atlantic Stage 2. The opening night party guests included five-time Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award winner Jan Maxwell, Kristine Nielsen (Broadway: Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Jennifer Van Dyck (Broadway: Hedda Gabler, Dancing at Lughnasa and Two Shakespearean Actors), Quentin Mare (Broadway: Rock 'n' Roll, Coram Boy, Julius Caesar) and Stephanie Janssen (Broadway: Mrs. Warren's Profession). This season's line-up includes a revival of last season's acclaimed production of Caryl Churchill's Serious Money, about greed in London's financial district in the late '80s, directed by PTP's Co-Artistic Director Cheryl Faraone. Classic Stage Company has announced that Deb Radloff, who appeared in the company's recent production of The Caucasian Chalk Circle, is this year's recipient of the Rosemarie Tichler Fund grant. The Fund was established in 2010 with the mission to assist young actors who have appeared at CSC and who have recently made the transition from their training into the profession. The $3000 grant can be used by the young artist to continue training or to offset loans they may have incurred while studying their craft. With the grant, CSC hopes to make a difference in the lives of young actors at the start of their careers as well as to heighten awareness in the community to the specific needs of actors. The recipient was selected by a panel of judges which included Rosemarie Tichler, CSC Artistic Director Brian Kulick and CSC Casting Director James Calleri.
