Due to a limited number of Covid cases within the company, The Orchard, conceived, adapted, and directed by Ukrainian born theater director Igor Golyak, will begin previews on June 7, instead of the previously scheduled May 31. Opening night remains unchanged, and is still scheduled for June 16 for a limited run through July 3.

Mounting something as complex as a Chekov play is not an easy undertaking and should only be handled by professionals. Luckily, in Seattle, we have the Seagull Project who has been tackling these works the last few years including the absolutely incredible "Three Sisters" they put up a few years back. But as crystal clear the intent of the characters in their current production of "The Cherry Orchard" at ACT is, thanks to the stellar performances and direction, I wonder if the translation they chose isn't doing them any favors as I was never quite certain who many of these people were.

The box office and bar will open at 6:30 p.m. and the play will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the performance are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors/military, and $15 for students and can be purchased in advance at www.GamutTheatre.org (http://www.gamuttheatre.org/) . Following the performance, a reception will be held where guests can meet and mingle with the cast and crew while enjoying refreshments. Tickets to the opening night reception are sold separately.

A production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Proof, by David Auburn, will open Thursday, August 21 for a four-performance run at Sycamore Hill, the home of Drs. Veronica Covalesky and Nick Leasure, at 481 Ebelhare Road in Pottstown, PA. Directed by Seth Reich, the production features a cast of New York actors who will perform the play on the actual porch of the Sycamore Hill home.
