Frau Welt is a Grande Dame of epic proportions, an international shape-shifter who barely noticed the stirrings of the second world war as she single-mindedly strode her way to stardom, rubbing shoulders with the good and great. Now she's looking back on her career in one final performance, revisiting her glory and the truth that has been omitted from her legacy.

Shakespeare's Globe has announced the all-female cast for Morgan Lloyd Malcolm's new play Emilia, directed by Nicole Charles. The play charts the life of Emilia Bassano, the poet, mother and feminist who is thought to have inspired the 'Dark Lady' in Shakespeare's sonnets as well as the Emilia characters who appear in Othello, The Two Noble Kinsmen, The Winter's Tale and The Comedy of Errors. Emilia continues to thread her way through each of the plays in which she appears this summer season, excepting Emilia the Abbess in The Comedy of Errors.

pluck. productions in association with Park Theatre present the world premiere of Alkaline by Stephanie Martin, which is set to be performed at Park Theatre from 10th July - 4th August 2018. Alkaline is a play about faith, friendship and fear, but at its heart a story about female friendship, shining a light on painful endings and new beginnings. The play also explores ideas surrounding British identity and who chooses to define it, questioning whether we dare to be different in today's society. Alkaline follows pluck. productions' most recent production, Birthday Suit, which played to critical acclaim and was nominated for three Off West-End Awards.

Hampstead Theatre has announced the next productions for the Main Stage and Hampstead Downstairs.

The cast is announced today for the European premiere of Jordan Seavey's Homos, or Everyone in America at the Finborough Theatre. Josh Seymour directs Tyrone Huntley (The Academic), Harry McEntire (The Writer), Dan Krikler (Dan) and Cash Holland (Laila). The production opens for a four-week limited season on Thursday, 9 August 2018, with previews from 7 August, playing until 1 September.

A literal spin on the concept of women taking up space, critically-acclaimed Sleepless Theatre Company's Les Enfants Terribles Award-nominated play interrogates gender politics, power imbalance and the very notions of 'masculinity' and 'femininity' as a young couple find themselves in a world full of larger than life women. Earlier this year, Nine Foot Nine was showcased at the Royal Court Theatre as part of their International Women's Day programme.

Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) will present Middle Eastern MixFest, a series of free readings co-curated by playwrights Mona Mansour and Heather Raffothat will run Wednesday, August 8th through Thursday, August 16th at Atlantic Stage 2 (330 West 16th Street).

The Orchard Project, a nationally renowned performance laboratory, today announced the six original, independent pilots selected to participate in its first annual Episodic Lab. More than 430 artists applied to the inaugural year of the Episodic Lab, which will help writers develop television and episodic content, working with accomplished showrunners and producers as mentors. The pioneer artists include playwrights, cartoonist, and screenwriters — and they are working on a diverse set of pilots, focusing on everything from the world of rap to the world of celebrity cruises. Selected artists and projects include: BRIGHTSTAR! By Michael Cyril Creighton; CRACK'D by Nako Adodoadji; THE PARK by Amy Jephta; THE SHAMROCKS by Chris Sharp and Kate Barry; THE STRIP by Tom Toro; and TINO & HEDDY by Patricia Scanlon and Louis Mustillo.

Following on from the successful tour in 2017, Lee Dean and Daniel Schumann are extending the UK Tour of Tom Kempinski's award-winning play DUET FOR ONE, directed by Robin Lefevre, with Belinda Lang reprising her acclaimed performance as Stephanie Abrahams and joined on this tour by Jonathan Coy as Dr Feldmann. The tour will begin at Oxford Playhouse on Tuesday 28 August 2018.

London Writers' Week, the annual week providing access to and showcasing the best new ideas going on in new writing in the UK and the new writing version of London Fashion Week, has announced its programme for 2018.

The Almeida Theatre today announces two new Almeida Young Company shows.

Director of Nuffield Southampton Theatres, Samuel Hodges, today announces Labour MP, Jess Phillips will join the writing team for the world premiere of Women In Power. The production sees some of the UK's most influential female voices, including Wendy Cope, Jenny Eclair, Suhayla El-Bushra, Natalie Haynes, Shappi Khorsandi and Brona C Titley, come together to write this musical comedy based on the Greek classic, The Assemblywomen. Directed by NST Associate Director Blanche McIntyre, the production opens on 6 September at NST City and runs until 29 September.

Surgent Theatre today announces their production of Steven Dietz's Lonely Planet to open at Trafalgar Studio 2 in the run up to London's iconic Pride parade. The play originally premiered in the US at the Northlight Theatre, Illinois in 1993 and this production made its UK premiere at the Tabard Theatre last year. Ian Brown returns to direct Alexander McMorran (Jody) and Aaron Vodovoz (Carl) for this strictly limited run; opening on 14 June, with previews from 12 June and running until 7 July.
