Just yesterday, President Barack Obama presented the National Medals of Arts in conjunction with the National Humanities Medals in an East Room ceremony at the White House. NEA Chairman Jane Chu said, 'Whether its animation or architecture, writing or music, these artists' creativity and passion have made an enormous impact on our nation. I join the President in congratulating them and celebrating the arts in our country.' The official citations for the 2013 National Medal of Arts recipients are: Julia Alvarez, Brooklyn Academy Of Music, Joan Harris, Bill T. In a coup for South Australia, it has been announced that the great British director Peter Brook's production of The Suit will play exclusively in Adelaide for State Theatre Company in October. Exclusivity for the Australian premiere has been secured with the support of the South Australian Tourism Commission, which will also support a targeted marketing campaign to theatre-goers from Melbourne and Sydney. BAM 24 Hour Movie Marathon to Raise Funds for Education, 9/5

Brooklyn Academy Of Music (BAM) announces the first-ever BAM 24-Hour Movie Marathon benefiting BAM Education. Beginning at 8pm on Friday, September 5, the Steinberg Screen at the BAM Harvey Theater will host this peer-to-peer fundraiser, inspired by traditional athletic fundraisers, challenging participants to binge watch classic and modern film favorites for a full 24 hours. With support from media partner New York magazine, funds raised will support BAM Education's in- and after-school programs, workshops, and internships, which serve over 30,000 K-12 students, teachers, and parents annually. The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for the third production of the 2014 Summer Season, Ronald Harwood's comedy Quartet, directed by Richard Seer (Other Desert Cities, God of Carnage, The Last Romance). Harwood received an Academy Award for his screenplay of The Pianist and was nominated for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and The Dresser (also a hit on Broadway and the West End). The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, New York Live Arts' Resident Dance Company, announced today the touring programs and productions for the 2014-2015 Season. The Company will perform and conduct residencies in more than 11 cities in eight states over the next 12 months, making their debut at a number of venues across the U.S. Highlights of the 2014-2015 Season include the New York City premiere of Story/Time (35, 36, 37 & 38) November 4 - 8 and 11 - 15 on the Company's home stage at the New York Live Arts theater; the world premiere of Analogy (working title) in June 2015 at Montclair State University; the Company debut at Dancers' Workshop in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and more. Touring programs for the 2014-2015 season include Analogy (working title), the Company's newest work; Story/Time; Play and Play: An Evening of Movement and Music; Body Against Body; and A Rite.
