The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) celebrates the 2015 holiday season with a wide variety of concert programming, from the traditional annual performances of Handel's Messiah with the Concert Artists of Baltimore to a one-of-a-kind experience that pairs world-class acrobats and gymnasts with music by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, in an exciting program titled Cirque de la Symphonie.

If this Jamie deRoy 25th Anniversary Show was competing against some of those great Ed Sullivan variety episodes it would have been no contest.  First of all, Jamie knows how to give an introduction, is an entertainer herself, and the best in entertainment business sign up to be in a Jamie deRoy & friends show . The Actors Fund presented this 40th annual 30th Jamie Birthday show and it was truly a spectacular event with some of the most talented performers on the stage at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at the john Jay College of Criminal Justice.  The only crime last night was that the event wasn't televised live but I'm sure excerpts will be available on Jamie's cable TV show and through the facilities of The Actors Fund.

The New York Landmarks Conservancy will host its 22nd Living Landmarks Celebration today, November 5, 2015 at The Plaza at Fifth Avenue and Central Park South, New York City. BroadwayWorld has learned that among this year's honorees are Broadway impresarios Phil Smith and Bob Wankel. Not only that, but special presenters also include Bernadette Peters and Joel Grey, with Brian Stokes Mitchell slated to perform.

A special event was held earlier this week, October 28 at 5:30 PM at Don't Tell Mama (343 West 46th Street) to celebrate the release of Seth Rudetsky's new book, SETH'S BROADWAY DIARY, VOLUME 2. In addition to Seth, the event featured Stephanie J. Block, Andrea Burns,Ana Gasteyer, Mandy Gonzales and Jackie Hoffman, who performed excerpts and some of Seth's favorite songs. The Lillian Booth Actors Home of The Actors Fund (155-175 West Hudson Avenue, Englewood, New Jersey), an acclaimed assisted living and skilled nursing care facility for those who worked in performing arts and entertainment and their immediate families, celebrated a groundbreaking yesterday at their facility in Englewood, New Jersey. The event kicked off a capital campaign to rebuild, expand and preserve The Home, adding an additional 45 beds to the residence.

'A Celebration of American Creativity: In Performance at the White House' is a PBS music special taped in the East Room of the White House. President and Mrs. Obama will host the all-star music tribute celebrating the cultural resonance of art and literature in unique American musical forms.

Tonight, October 9, noted orchestrator and conductor Fred Barton will bring the music of Broadway and the American Songbook to the Schimmel Center at Pace University, in American Showstoppers: An Evening of Johnny Mercer. In his seventh concert at Pace, Fred Barton now brings the power of Mercer's music and lyrics front and center, with a 14-piece orchestra and a cast of 16 Broadway singers and dancers, with direction and choreography by Scott Thompson. The cast is headlined by Damon Kirsch, Tony nominee Lee Roy Reams, two time Tony nominee Vivian Reed, Nick Spangler, Tony Nominee Lauren Worsham, and Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba. The cast also features Jesse Luttrell, Sean McGibbon and Molly Pope.

Besides giving us ridiculously talented creators, entertainment, reason to live, etc., one great dynamic of our Broadway community is that we have a very active presence on Twitter. This is one of the few platforms on which performers, writers, and fans can all interact, usually throwing witty and often satirical one-liners at one another. It's one of the things that makes our community such a special place to be a part of.
