The Music Circus production of the musical 'Chicago' at the Wells Fargo Pavilion runs now through August 29, 2013. Directed by Ron Kellum, choreographed by Randy Slovacek, the show features Brenda Braxton (Velma Kelly), Lindsay Roginski (Roxie Hart), Tom Hewitt (Billy Flynn), Roz Ryan (Matron 'Mama' Morton) and Ric Stoneback (Amos Hart). He has directed and choreographed over three hundred shows on American regional theatres stages from Chicago to Philadelphia to Houston, Kansas City, and Phoenix, been nominated for over seventy awards, won sixteen of fifty-three Joseph Jefferson nominations! He is currently the full time Artistic Director of the Fulton Theatre in Lancaster, PA, but that will not stop him in the coming season from staging productions not only in Lancaster, but also in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Brunswick, ME, to name but a few gigs already planned. 'Regional theatres are the places that are focusing on art first and commercial aspects second. Regional is where new works begin today and where quality theatre exists. I love the playground of regional theatre,' the Florida born, fifty-two-year-old Marc Robin exclaims with enthusiasm when I am able to catch up with him shortly after the opening of Maine State Music Theatre's highly acclaimed East coast regional premiere of Mary Poppins. Robin, who also staged Dreamgirls and LES MISERABLES in Brunswick this summer, confides, 'I like to be busy. I don't wind down. I always think I am supposed to be doing something. But that's because my work is my passion.'

The 1996 revival of this hit musical, one of the cornerstones of the choreographic Broadway legacy of Bob Fosse, won 6 Tony Awards and is still running on Broadway. With a plot centered on murderesses Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, on death row together fighting for the fame that may keep them from the gallows, the show features a number of popular songs including 'All That Jazz,' 'Razzle Dazzle' and 'Cell Block Tango.' Legendary Broadway composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz travels to Melbourne for three special performances of his works Godspell, Pippin and Children of Eden at Melbourne Recital Centre in September, realised by the award-winning theatre company Magnormos and a stellar Australian cast including Chloe Dallimore, Rohan Browne, and David Harris.

One of the world's greatest ballet teachers, David Howard, has passed away at the age of 76. He was a true legend in his field, whose generosity of spirit, great sense of humor, and dedication to the art have inspired many generations of dancers.

Many performers find themselves drawn to the art after seeing a performance of a specific piece. And the influence of that piece forever changes their direction of life. Kirstin Tucker is no exception. After seeing a production of Swan Lake on television, she told her parents that she knew what she wanted to do- and now she's the dance captain of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella on Broadway! This is Tucker's Broadway debut, and she was kind enough to talk to me about how it all began.

The legendary Betty Buckley went backstage last night at the Music Box Theatre to visit fellow actress Tovah Feldshuh, who's currently subbing for Andrea Martin as 'Berthe' in the Tony-winning revival of PIPPIN. Along with the photo below, Buckley posted to her Instagram: 'Tovah Feldshuh & me after her fabulous performance on the trapeze as Berthe in 'Pippin'. Note Tovah's 'guns'. The producers of the Tony Award winning new Broadway production of PIPPIN have announced that four-time Tony Award nominee Tovah Feldshuh (Irena's Vow, Golda's Balcony) will play the role of 'Berthe' on Friday, August 9 through Sunday, August 11 and Tuesday, August 20 through Sunday, August 25 while two-time Tony Award winner Andrea Martin is on vacation. Ms. Martin returns to the role full-time on Tuesday, August 27. PIPPIN is now playing at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).
