If you bill a show as 'From the co-creator of South Park and The Book of Mormon' you're going to set the expectations pretty high. Cannibal! BWW Reviews: IN THE MOOD Brings the Boogie to New OrleansBWW Reviews: IN THE MOOD Brings the Boogie to New Orleans
by Heidi Scheuermann - Feb 3, 2015

Alright, so unlike most humans who are currently in their mid-twenties, I grew up listening to the tunes of artists like Bing Crosby (not just at Christmastime), Judy Garland, Perry Como, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, The Andrews Sisters… I could go on forever. I listened to it because my dad listened to it because his dad listened to it. It's in my blood, I can't help it. Besides, have you ever given 40s music a really good listen? If you have, you'll know that there never were smoother voices in this history of forever. Silky smooth, buttery voices. People just don't sing like that anymore! Not to mention full orchestras backed the singers. Full orchestras! We're talking piano, drums, trumpets, trombones, bass (the upright kind), saxophone… I mean these guys really knew how to rock! Christopher A. Coppula Releases JIMMY VAN HEUSEN SWINGING ON A STARChristopher A. Coppula Releases JIMMY VAN HEUSEN SWINGING ON A STAR
by BWW News Desk - Jan 5, 2015

'Jimmy Van Heusen Swinging on a Star,' by Christopher A. Coppula, is the first official biography of the prolific composer James Van Heusen. Van Heusen wrote over 1,000 songs, including 50 standards. He is tied for most Academy Awards for Best Original Song. Van Heusen composed music for 5 of the 6 Road movies starring Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. You know his music, but chances are you don't know the composer behind such hits as Swinging on a Star, All the Way, Moonlight Becomes You, Love and Marriage, High Hopes, Come Fly With Me, and Imagination. While his legacy is inextricably linked with that of his best friend Frank Sinatra, Van Heusen was much more. Starting his career while in high school, Van Heusen worked from radio to the Cotton Club, from song plugger to songwriter, from New York to Hollywood. He was a brilliant musician, ware hero, and good and generous man (more...)
