The New Group celebrates its 20th Anniversary in 2014-2015 and has announced three productions for this milestone season: the first major New York revival of Sticks and Bones, the Tony Award-winning play by David Rabe, directed by Scott Elliott, and featuring Holly Hunter and Bill Pullman; the New York premiere of Rasheeda Speaking by Joel Drake Johnson, helmed by Cynthia Nixon in her directorial debut, and featuring Tonya Pinkins and Dianne Wiest; and the world premiere of The Spoils, a new play written by and featuring Jesse Eisenberg, directed by Scott Elliott. Springs Ensemble Theatre ('SET') continues its fifth anniversary season with EdwardAlbee's classic dark comedy, THE GOAT or WHO IS SYLVIA?, opening tonight, June 12th and running through June 29th, 2014.

Broadway Producer Ken Davenport (author of the popular blog, The Producer's Perspective) announces The 3rd Annual 10 Minute Play Contest! 10 original plays will be selected from submissions to be featured in a presentation evening and vie for the title of 'Best Play' as chosen by a panel of industry professionals. Finalists will receive a cash prize of $50 and the grand prize winner will receive $500.

Artistic Director Hal Brooks has announced the 2014 season for Cape Cod Theatre Project, featuring staged readings of new work by Hamish Linklater, Cory Hinkle, Alena Smith, and The Lobbyists and Seth Moore. They will be joined in Falmouth, Massachusetts by writers-in-residence Sarah Burgess, Mona Mansour and Stella Ragsdale.

The New Group opened the New York premiere of Annapurna by Sharr White, directed by Bart DeLorenzo and featuring Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, on April 21. The limited Off-Broadway engagement will officially end its run on June 1.

Drama Desk and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti ('The Sound of Music Live!', Gypsy, Women On The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) will host the 59th Annual Drama Desk Awards tonight, June 1, 2014 at 8:00 PM at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street). United States Navy veteran and Washington, D.C. native Paul Hurley joins the company of the new theatrical dance piece Healing Wars, a world-premiere production from choreographer Liz Lerman that explores the aftermath of war.

Eligibility and award category designations for the productions under consideration this season were determined by the Drama Desk board of directors with recommendations from the nominating committee. Because of the abundance of great work throughout the season, the Board also authorized the increase in the number of nominees allowed in select categories.
