Celebrating its 6th year bringing live theatre to cinema audiences around the world, NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE is pleased to announce an international broadcast of Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) in the title role of Everyman, adapted by Carol Ann Duffy and directed by Rufus Norris, live from The National Theatre of Great Britain's Olivier Theatre on Thursday, July 16, 2015. The upcoming Broadway production of the sold-out West End production of David Hare's SKYLIGHT, directed by Stephen Daldry, winner of the 2014 London Evening Standard Award for Revival of the Year, will now begin performances Friday, March 13 at the John Golden Theatre. The production, which will star Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy, and feature Matthew Beard, all recreating their acclaimed London performances, opens Thursday, April 2 for a strictly limited 13-week engagement. The hit West End production of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, directed by Sam Mendes, announced today that it has extended its booking period by six months until 1 November 2014. The show had previously been booking until 31 May 2014. The production, which has so far been seen by almost 300,000 people since it began previews in May 2013, is extending its run due to popular demand, releasing almost 400,000 extra tickets. (more...)

The University Musical Society (UMS) kicks off the holiday season on Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7 with the annual Ann Arbor community tradition of Handel's Messiah, featuring the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and the UMS Choral Union, conducted by Jerry Blackstone. On Tuesday, December 9, UMS presents Teatro Regio Torino Orchestra and Chorus in its first-ever American tour; the ensemble will perform an opera in concert of Rossini's William Tell in Hill Auditorium.
