2014 is upon us, which means that it's time to look back on all of the highs and lows that this past theatre season has brought. BroadwayWorld is wrapping up the year by tributing our favorite moments of 2013, and in this series, we're highlighting 13 of our favorite musical moments on stage in just 30 seconds.

Bobby Steggert and Frederick Weller Join Tyne Daly in MOTHERS AND SONS on Broadway

Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Frederick Weller and Tony® Award nominee Bobby Steggert will join Tony® and Emmy® Award winner Tyne Daly in the upcoming Broadway production of Terrence McNally's Mothers and Sons, it was announced today. Weller will portray Cal Porter opposite Daly's Katharine Gerard. Steggert, currently seen on Broadway in Big Fish, reprises the role of Will Ogden which he created in an earlier production of the play at Bucks County Playhouse. Mothers and Sons marks Mr. McNally's 20th Broadway show, and will be directed by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall). It will play Broadway's John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). Preview performances have been set to begin Sunday, February 23, 2014, and the opening night has been announced for Monday, March 24, 2014. Mothers and Sons is produced on Broadway by Tom Kirdahy, Roy Furman, Paula Wagner & Debbie Bisno, and Barbara Freitag & Loraine Alterman Boyle. Even better: Orange County---my home base---boasted some of the best shows, period---marking an exciting theater renaissance in brilliance and artistry that I hope continues to grow here inside L.A.'s next door neighbor. With that said, here is my Top 10 Stage Shows of 2013 from Orange County and adjacent locales nearby, followed by my picks for the year's best performances.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts produces, in association with La Jolla Playhouse, a re-imagining of Henry Krieger and Bill Russell's Side Show. Directed by Academy Award winning director Bill Condon, the musical closes at La Jolla Playhouse tonight, December 17 and will open at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater in spring 2014. The musical features book and lyrics by Bill Russelland music by Henry Krieger who will revise the show before its debut at La Jolla.

Danny Glover to Receive Bahamas International Film Festival 'Career Achievement Award'

The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) announced today that Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon, Dreamgirls, The Color Purple) will be honored with the prestigious Career Achievement Award at this year's Film Festival, taking place December 5-13. Glover will be on hand for the special tribute and presentation at the Atlantis Theater on the evening of Friday, December 6th. The announcement was made by BIFF Founder and Executive Director Leslie Vanderpool.
