With several weeks until the craziness begins, there is plenty of time to catch up on what's been going on at Broadway's occupied theaters . The Broadway company of Wicked in conjunction with Mark Fisher Fitness announced today that the New York theatre community will come together on Monday, November 26 to present CITY OF HOPE: BROADWAY BLOWS BACK, a benefit concert to raise funds for New York and New Jersey communities affected by Hurricane Sandy. The 2011 edition of the annual Carols for a Cure album is now in the works. Produced by Rock-it Science Records and currently in it's thirteenth year, purchase of the album benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This highly anticipated annual holiday release features casts from the current line-up of prestigious shows performing new and traditional holiday music. Broadway's Carols for a Cure offers a 'snapshot' of each season, as the casts and orchestras from each show on Broadway perform their own holiday track. The cast of WICKED made their way into the studio last week and BroadwayWorld was there to capture the session!

Lisa Howard, one of the stars of William Finn's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, will perform a concert at Birdland on Monday, April 11 at 7pm. This event will be part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series, which showcases performers and composers from the Great White Way.

The company of the first North American tour of WICKED welcomes Gene Weygandt as The Wizard on Tuesday, September 14 in Boston, MA. Weygandt, a WICKED veteran, has previously played The Wizard in Chicago and on Broadway. On Broadway, he created the role of Paul in big: The Musical and is a three-time recipient of Chicago's Jefferson Award. Mr. Weygandt's many film and TV credits include: The Birdcage, The Babe, 'The Beast,' 'Cybill,' 'Home Improvement,' 'Murphy Brown,' 'Drew Carey,' 'Ellen,' 'Coach' and 'USA High.'
