In 2012 Andrea Demetriades makes her Sydney Theatre Company debut in Pygmalion, replacing Jessica Marais who had previously been announced for the iconic role of Eliza. Jessica has withdrawn from the show following the news that she is expecting her first child. Rehearsals for Pygmalion, directed by Peter Evans, commence before Christmas and the production is at Sydney Theatre from 31 January to 3 March 2012 (Opening Night: Saturday 4 February 2012).

Producers Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel announced that the American premiere of THE ANARCHIST, the new play about politics, money, religion and sex, written and directed by DAVID MAMET. The production will star two-time Tony Award winner PATTI LUPONE, who has previously appeared in Mamet's The Woods, All Men are Whores, The Blue Hour, The Water Engine, Edmond and The Old Neighborhood and three-time Emmy Award winner LAURIE METCALF, who was nominated for a 2008 Tony Award for her performance in Mamet's November. THE ANARCHIST, which marks the sixth collaboration between Richards, Frankel and Mamet, will open on Broadway in Fall 2012.

The Shaw Festival witnessed a growth in attendance during its milestone 50th season, which also included an increase in the number of people who came to The Shaw to see the plays by its namesake.

Sierra Boggess (The Little Mermaid, Love Never Dies, Master Class and as Christine in last month's 25th Anniversary Concert of The Phantom of the Opera in London) will play the lead role of 'I'. The big reason for the audience's enjoyment, however, is the performance of Nigel Reed as Barrymore, who absolutely inhabits the legendary old ham's persona, grandiose and gross and catty and orotund. A strong physical resemblance to the man does not hurt either.
