Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce the World Premiere of SAFE SPACE had the official opening night on June 29. The show runs through July 21. This new play by Alan Fox is directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien (All My Sons, Henry IV, Hairspray, The Coast of Utopia). The play stars Mercedes Ruehl (Torch Song, upcoming film Hustlers, Bay Street's Viva la Vida!), Sasha Diamond (Blindspot, The Romanoffs, Murphy Brown) and Rodney Richardson (The Day Shall Come, CBS's FBI, Somebody's Daughter).

Bay Street Theater presents THE PROMPTER, the first production of the 2019 Mainstage Season, are now in rehearsal in New York City. The World Premiere will be May 28- June 16. Tovah Feldshuh (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Walking Dead, Golda's Balcony) and Wade Dooley (Jersey Boys) star in the show. Bay Street Theater and Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce a successful opening night for FROST/NIXON, a play by Peter Morgan, directed by Sarna Lapine. The show was met with a standing ovation. Notable in attendance were Mercedes Ruehl, Judy Carmichael and Jules Feiffer.  FROST/NIXON runs through July 22. The evening will include special performances as well as a silent auction, cocktail party, live 'Fantasy Auction,' dinner and dancing.

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce the cast of INTIMATE APPAREL is now in rehearsal at Chelsea Studios in NYC. The play is by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and Tony nominee Lynn Nottage and directed by Bay Street Theater Artistic Director Scott Schwartz. Kelly McCreary, currently one of the stars of Grey's Anatomy on ABC, stars as Esther Mills.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts announces the success of the 25th Annual Summer Gala, celebrating Bay Street's Silver Anniversary, which took place in Sag Harbor on the Long Wharf on July 9, 2016 to benefit Bay Street's theatrical, educational and community programs. The evening included a special performance of scenes from productions from the past 25 years directed by Will Pomerantz, as well as a silent auction, cocktail party, Live 'Fantasy Auction,' dinner and dancing. Artistic Director, Scott Schwartz also announced a new partnership with Jeffrey Seller, producer of Hamilton. Bay Street Theater will produce the new musical, The Man in the Ceiling by Jules Feiffer and Andrew Lippa, directed by Jeffrey Seller as part of the 2017 Mainstage Season.

Bay Street Theater has announced MY FAIR LADY, Book and Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, Music by Frederick Loewe, Based on Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw & Gabriel Pascal's motion picture, and Directed by Michael Arden, Tony Award nominee and Outer Critics Circle Award-winner for Best Director of a Musical for the Broadway revival of Spring Awakening is now in rehearsals in NYC. MY FAIR LADY will run August 2 - 28. Members and past winners of the Dram Desk Award gathered to celebrate the organization's 65th Anniversary at a glittering party at Sardi's.

Tony nominee Howard McGillin, just coming off of GIGI on Broadway, will join Tony winner Betty Buckley and Drama Desk winner Rachel York in Bay Street Theater's summer production of GREY GARDENS, running August 4-30. McGillin will take on the role of George Gould Strong in the musical, which Michael Wilson will direct.  Check out a sneak peek at rehearsals below!

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the success of the premiere concert reading of the first act of DreamWorks Theatricals new stage adaptation of The Prince of Egypt which was part of Bay Street Theater's 24th Annual Summer Gala which took place in Sag Harbor at the Long Wharf on July 11, 2015 to benefit Bay Street's educational and theatrical programs. ThePrince of Egypt features book by Philip LaZebnik (writer of Mulan, Pocahontas) and music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (composer of Wicked,Pippin, Godspell); both creators attended the Gala. Bay Street's Artistic Director Scott Schwartz directed the reading, Dominic Amendum was Musical Director, and casting was by Stewart/Whitley.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Ian Fraser, renowned music director, composer and conductor for television and Broadway, known for his work with Julie Andrews, died of cancer today, October 31, 2014. He was 81.

It is always exciting to say 'I saw the world premiere'. You will have such an opportunity if you catch the hilarious new musical My Life Is A Musical by Adam Overett running through August 31st at Sag Harbor's Bay Street Theatre. It is still in its early stages, but the enthusiastic reception seems to indicate that tickets may be in short supply as the production continues its run.
