Tenor Anthony Kearns to Perform in 25th Annual National Memorial Day Concert in D.C., 5/25

Popular tenor Anthony Kearns will be a guest performer in PBS's National Memorial Day Concert, which has become a national tradition over the past 25 years. This year's program will be a tribute to America's men and women in uniform, their families, and all those who have given their lives for our country. The event will be broadcast from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on Sun., May 25, 2014 from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Eastern time.

President Nancy J. Uscher has announced that Cornish College of the Arts will award honorary degrees at this year's commencement to ground-breaking American playwright Tony Kushner and to Deborah F. Rutter, president-elect of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Mr. Kushner is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Tony and Emmy Awards, and a recipient of the National Medal for Arts. One of the nation's leading arts administrators, Ms. Rutter assumes leadership of the Kennedy Center in September. Most recently she has served as president of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and, prior to that, she was the executive director of the Seattle Symphony.

It is directed by Nicolas Kent, who was Artistic Director of the Tricycle Theatre from 1984-2012. The cast includes Nabil Elouahabi who was a leading actor in the Olivier nominated, and critically acclaimed trilogy, The Great Game: Afghanistan, which ran at the Tricycle Theatre and toured throughout the US.
