Last night, Jesse Eisenberg's THE SPOILS recently had its press night at Trafalgar Studios. His third play, The Spoils originally ran Off-Broadway in 2015 at The Pershing Square Signature Center. The London production stars Eisenberg, Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), Katie Brayben(Beautiful - The Carole King Musical), Annapurna Sriram (Billions) and Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory), and plays until August 13. Pauline McLynn (Father Ted, Shameless, EastEnders) will play Ella Khan in Ayub Khan Din's critically-acclaimed play East is East, which was part of Jamie Lloyd's second Trafalgar Transformed season, directed by Sam Yates, on a 16 week National Tour from tonight 11 June 2015, commencing at Theatre Royal, Brighton. East is East is designed by Tom Scutt, with lighting by Richard Howell and sound and music by Alex Baranowski. (more...)

Just last night, he New Group just honored Founding Artistic Director Scott Elliott and celebrated its 20th Anniversary season. Scott Elliott is an award-winning stage director, filmmaker and the founding Artistic Director of The New Group, where he recently directed the critically acclaimed revival of David Rabe's Sticks and Bones. At The New Group, he has directed world premieres by Thomas Bradshaw, Ayub Khan Din, Francine Volpe, Erika Sheffer and Tommy Nohilly; and the world premiere of the 2010 musical The Kid (Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical; Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award nominations for Outstanding Musical). Other credits include The New Group's The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie starring Cynthia Nixon; David Rabe's Hurlyburly; and numerous collaborations with Ayub Khan Din, Wallace Shawn and Mike Leigh. Broadway credits include Present Laughter, Barefoot in the Park, The Threepenny Opera, The Women and Three Sisters. The New Group has announced additional casting and production dates for the world premiere production of The Spoils, a new play written by and featuring Jesse Eisenberg, directed by Scott Elliott. Kunal Nayyar ("The Big Bang Theory") joins Jesse Eisenberg in this production, which marks the third show in The New Group's current 20th Anniversary Season. Previews begin May 7, in advance of an Official Opening Night on Tuesday, June 2. Many of us fondly remember East is East as the film that was released in 1999 - a superb comedy that also tackles the conflict of interest within a multi-cultural family. However, a lot of people are unaware that it was a play beforehand, debuting in Birmingham in October 1996, also featuring Linda Bassett as Ella, before transferring to the Royal Court Upstairs the following year. The show was writer Ayub Khan Din's first play following a successful career as an actor. We are very lucky to have the man himself starring as George in this short UK tour following a well-received run at the Trafalgar Studios. (more...)

The 2015 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting today announced its judging panel ahead of this year's official launch on 29 January 2015, which will also mark the Prize's 10th anniversary.
