The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by seven-time Grammy winner and piano superstar Emanuel Ax on December 3 at 8 p.m. and December 4 at 2 p.m. Both concerts will be lead by Music Director Eric Jacobsen and will be held at Bob Carr Theater, 401 W. Livingston Street, Orlando, Florida.

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) presents 'The Invention of Morel,' a world premiere of the co-commissioned opera composed by Stewart Copeland, co-founder and drummer of The Police. Based on Argentinian author Adolfo Bioy Casares' 1940 novel 'La invencion de Morel,' Copeland's new adaptation examines the triumph of time-bending love over convention in a story of adoration and desire. 'The Invention of Morel' features London-based actor, director and writer Jonathan Moore as Stage Director/Librettist together with COT's Artistic Director Andreas Mitisek as Conductor. The press performance will be February 18 at 7:30 p.m. Subsequent performances will be February 24 at 7:30 p.m.and February 26 at 3 p.m.

Astor Piazzolla pays homage to the music of Antonio Vivaldi with his own four movement, tango-inflected 'Four Seasons,' which reflects the life and soul of his native Buenos Aires. This signature work from the 1960s is deeply informed by Piazzolla's multicultural upbringing, which saw him introduce influences of classical, jazz, rock and klezmer into a unique Nuevo Tango style. Originally composed for Piazzolla's own quintet, we feature the new PSU violin professor, Tomas Cotik, in an arrangement for solo violin and string orchestra by the Russian composer Leonid Desyatnikov.

Acclaimed orchestral collective The Knights, flexible in size and repertory, are dedicated to transforming the concert experience. Led by brothers Colin and Eric Jacobsen and evolving from late night chamber music reading parties among a group of friends, The Knights engage listeners and defy boundaries with programs that showcase the players' roots in the classical tradition and passion for musical discovery. TheNew Yorker calls them "One of Brooklyn's sterling cultural products…known far beyond the borough for their relaxed virtuosity and expansive repertory." During their third season as one of BRIC's Artists-in-Residence, the group will be rehearsing works that will be performed at BRIC House and elsewhere, as well engaging with the community in a multitude of ways, including three concerts.

It is appropriate that the next MasterWorks concert to be performed by the Canton Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is titled "Seasonings". Not only are we in the midst of the changing seasons, but we are approaching that time of year when kitchens are full of the robust aromas of well-seasoned comfort foods. The concert program on November 19, 2016 at 8:00pm at Umstattd Performing Arts Hall at the Zimmermann Symphony Center may not offer savory tidbits, but it promises to spice up the night with delicious sounds!
