GLEN ELLYN, Ill. – Von Heidecke's Chicago Festival Ballet (CFB) marks its 25th anniversary production of “The Nutcracker” with four performances at the McAninch Arts Center (MAC), located at 425 Fawell Blvd., today, Dec. 20 at 2 and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 21 at 1 and 5 p.m. New Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Kirk Muspratt, will Tchaikovsky's classic “Nutcracker” score live for this production marked by dazzling sets and costumes and spectacular dancing. This fall, the Maiden High School's production of John Cariani's 'Almost, Maine' was canceled because of one scene in which two young men realize they have feelings for each other. Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park Artistic Director Blake Robison announced today that Obie Award-winning director Eric Ting will be added next season to the theatre's Associate Artists program, which was launched by Robison in 2013 for his second season at the Playhouse. Ting will join current associate artists Timothy Douglas, Michael Evan Haney and KJ Sanchez, who have served the Playhouse in that capacity for the past two years. (more...)

Sarasota, FL – Sarasota Opera is seeking enthusiastic outgoing people to serve as supernumeraries, or “supers”, the non-singing extras in opera productions, and acrobats for its 2015 Winter Festival Season production of Rimsky-Korsakov's fairy tale opera The Golden Cockerel. Supers will take the parts of guards, servants, pages, and bizarre masked characters (unicorn lady, unicorn man, goat lady, goat men, etc.) Age range for these characters is from teenager to 60s.
