Rose Theater Receives Mid-America Arts Alliance Performing Arts Grant

The Rose Theater announces that it is among a select group of regional presenters to receive a Mid-America Arts Alliance Artistic Innovations Award grant. This $15,000 award will support an upcoming performance of Buffalo Bill's Cowboy Band at The Rose Theater, Jan. 23 - Feb. 8, 2015. This original show will feature informative displays and interactive activities in the theater's lobby, as well as pre- and post-show workshops for visiting schools, to help bring history alive for audiences young and old. Seanachai Theatre Changes Name to Irish Theatre of Chicago; 20th Anniversary Season Announced!

European Arts Company's THE TRIALS OF OSCAR WILDE Sets Trafalgar Studios Transfer

Following a 43 date UK Tour and sell out run at St James Theatre, European Arts Company have announced that The Trials of Oscar Wilde is transferring to Trafalgar Studios for a strictly limited four week run. The production will open on Monday 13th October, in celebration of Oscar Wilde's 160th birthday that same week, and will run until Saturday 8th November. Press Night is scheduled for Tuesday 14th October at 7.00pm. A special Birthday Gala performance will take place on Thursday 16th October at 7.45pm (Oscar's Birthday) with further details to be announced soon. (more...)

The Ruckus Welcomes New Leaders, Sets 2015 Season

Following a successful fifth season with productions at The Side Project Theatre and Collaboraction, The Ruckus Theater is proud to announce its sixth season in Chicago, as well as the appointment of a new Artistic Director and Executive Director. Outgoing Artistic Director Allison Shoemaker, who will now serve as the company's Director of Marketing and Publicity, and incoming Artistic Director Derek Van Barham release today a season of two plays, each investigating the impact of cataclysm on a community. Cleve Carney Art Gallery presents “Amy Vogel: A Paraperspective” Sept. 4 - Oct. 25. “Amy Vogel: A Paraperspective” is a collaboration between Joseph Grigely and Amy Vogel, with a catalogue essay by Joseph Grigely. The opening preview reception is Thursday, Sept. 4 from 12-2 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre to Celebrate South L.A. at the Dunbar Hotel, 9/5-6

On Saturday, September 6, Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre will present Dancing at Dunbar, a site-specific performance at Dunbar Village, home of The Dunbar Hotel. The piece is based on Life's Tragedy and Sympathy, two poems by Paul Laurence Dunbar. After successful performances of At the Oasis throughout LA, and following a residency for South LA youth at A Place Called Home the day before, on Friday, September 5, Dancing at Dunbar will celebrate Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre's work in the community with two performances at The Dunbar Hotel. The first performance at 5pm will be free for the residents of Dunbar Village, followed by another at 8pm open to the public. (more...)
