by BWW News Desk - Aug 23, 2016

Milford Arts Council, in association with Pantochino Productions Inc. announce the first show of their Nite Spot Nights series of cabaret entertainment for the coming season.  Amy Lynn and the Honey Men, formerly Amy Lynn and the Gunshow, is a seven-piece machine that blows glitter all over the traditional memphis-motown soul/rock style. At the controls is Amy Lynn, a vocal powerhouse whose unique flair of quirky, down-to-earth humor countervails against the serious musicianship of her band's bari sax, tenor sax, trumpet, keys, bass, and drums. Both together and apart, members of band draw on a range of experience playing for acts such as Roberta Flack, Spoon, Bette Midler, Red Baraat, St. Vincent, The National, Yo La Tengo, Loser's Lounge, Duffy, Antibalas, and the Radio City Orchestra.   (more...)

BWW Review: ERASING BORDERS FESTIVAL Transports The Audience To A Higher PlaneBWW Review: ERASING BORDERS FESTIVAL Transports The Audience To A Higher Plane
by Juan Michael Porter II - Aug 17, 2016

A highlight of this year's Erasing Borders Festival was that it took place on Indian Independence Day; perhaps that is why each artist infused the work with such celestial splendor. We opened with Carolina Prada of Colombia - who is based in New Dehli, India - performing the choreography of her Guru, Janmejoy Sai Babu in the Mayurbhanj Chhau style. It should be noted that each artist seemed to personify a specific human virtue. In the case of Ms. Prada, that virtue was intimacy. I felt as if she were dancing for me alone during her majestic solo. This piece showed the embodiment of feminine and masculine energy in one godly being. With her extreme extension, gravity defying barrel turns, leaps and bounds, perfect balances, and tremendous expression, Ms. Prada proved the perfect incarnation of God as a dual gendered being.
