Consortium of Asian American Theaters and Artists (CAATA) announces its new, monthly ConFest Virtual Series featuring the work of Asian American artists and theatres from across the country. The virtual series will explore the theme of the upcoming 7th Annual Asian American Theater Festival & Conference (ConFest) 'Kuʻu ʻĀina, Kuʻu Piko, Kuʻu Kahua - Return to the Source' in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi in May 2021, which centers the voices of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander theater practitioners and will feature the thriving theater community of Hawaiʻi, where Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander faces on stage are the norm, not the exception.

Leviathan Lab, in collaboration with The Episcopal Actors' Guild, is proud to present the thirteenth year of the Barbour Playwrights Award Reading Series, three evenings of readings of new plays by emerging playwrights. This year's plays examine the intersection of racism and sexism across romance and desire, and the toll these crosses exact on the hearts, minds, and bodies of people of color. This year's featured playwrights are Cherry Lou Sy (Nominee, Cherry Lane Mentor Project), Garrett David Kim (Finalist, Blue Ink Playwriting Award), and Ray Yamanouchi (Semi-Finalist, IMPACT-O'Neill National Playwrights Conference).

For the past 15 years, the It Awards have celebrated the vibrant and creative indie theatre community under the dedicated leadership of Executive Directors Shay Gines and Nick Micozzi who are stepping down and at the ceremony introduced new leadership for the organization: Cat Parker, Artistic Director of Articulate Theatre Company; Ariel Estrada, Producing Artistic Director of Leviathan Lab Projects; and Jazmyn Arroyo, Co-Founding Artistic Director of Step 1 Theatre Project will join Akia Squiteri, Artistic Director of Rising Sun Performance Company as Directors of the organization.

A limited run of HAMLET 90, adapted from the original play by William Shakespeare and directed by Sheila Bandyopadhyay will play at The Brick Theater at 579 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn as part of The Brick's Shakespeare in the Theater festival. Performances will be Tuesday August 13, Wednesday August 14 and Friday August 16, 2019 at 7pm. Tickets ($20 General Admission) are available for advanced purchase at www.bricktheater.com. The performance will run 90 minutes with no intermission.

A limited run of Robert Anderson's 1968 play I NEVER SANG FOR MY FATHER, directed by Richard Hoehler will play at The Chain Theatre at 312 West 36th Street, 4th floor between 8th and 9th Avenues. Performances will be Thursday through Saturday at 8:00 PM, and Sundays at 3:00 PM, September 5 through 22, 2019. Tickets ($25 General Admission, $15 Students/Seniors) are available for advanced purchase at www.chaintheatre.org. The performance will run approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes with one 15-minute intermission.
