Waterwell announces the World Premiere production of The Courtroom, a re-enactment of deportation proceedings.

The Public Theater officially opened its 15th annual UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL on Thursday, January 3. BroadwayWorld attended the opening, and you can check out the photos below!

Theater stalwart Jamie Du Mont, Lucille Lortel Award winner Leslie Kritzer, writer and theater critic Rob Russo, and Tony Award nominee Jennifer Simard recently launched their brand-new Broadway-centric podcast, The Fabulous Invalid. The inaugural season will consist of 40 episodes, released weekly between Broadway performances on Wednesday two-show days. Waterwell announced today that Obie Award-winning director Lee Sunday Evans has been named its new Artistic Director following an extensive national search. Evans is both a prominent director, with work produced at important venues including The Public Theater, Playwrights Horizons, BAM, Lincoln Center Theater, the Humana Festival, and The Play Company, and a long-time Waterwell collaborator, beginning as a teacher, director, and mentor of young artists in the Waterwell Drama Program.

As previously announced, ensemble member Amy Morton directs this Chicago premiere, featuring the original cast members, Omar Metwally (Humayun) and Arian Moayed (Babur), who were last seen on Steppenwolf's stage together in Homebody/Kabul. Morton directed the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway world premiere, which won the 2016 Obie Award for Best New American Play.
