The NY Dance and Performance Awards, the Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, have announced the 2022 award recipients at the 38th annual Bessie Awards. Porshia A. Derival, Executive Director of H+ | TOTEM Productions, hosted this year's event, which was held at Chelsea Factory. A complete list of the 2022 awards follows below.

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced the nominees for the 2022 Bessie Awards at a virtual press conference hosted by Gibney.

Vangeline Theater/ New York Butoh Institute announces that Founder and Artistic Director Vangeline is the recipient of a 2022/23 Gibney Dance in Process (DiP) Residency.

Gibney, the New York City-based dance and social justice organization, is expanding its residency programs to provide wider and more diverse opportunities for early- and mid-career dance artists in support of the continuing advancement of the contemporary dance field.

Spanish folk musician Germán López is set to open for Judy Collins on March 7th at the Lensic Theatre in Santa Fe. His own show, Canela y Limón (Cinnamon and Lemon), is set to play on Wednesday, March 9th at 7:30pm at Chatter.

The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.

The Chocolate Factory Theater presents the world premiere of PURO TEATRO: a Spell for Utopia, a new performance by choreographer/performer luciana achugar, co-commissioned with NYU Skirball Center For The Performing Arts and Portland Institute For Contemporary Art (PICA).

Two performances will be presented on October 9th at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM at The Cuban Club, 2010 N. Avenida Republica de Cuba at 14th Street, Tampa. 

La Secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno de México y el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL), a través de la Coordinación Nacional de Literatura, lamentan el sensible fallecimiento de Iván Trejo, quien se distinguió como promotor en la comunidad cultural regiomontana, así como por su trabajo como poeta, traductor, editor y guionista.  

La Secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno de México y el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL), a través de la Coordinación Nacional de Literatura, en conjunto con la Universidad de Colima, entregaron el Premio Bellas Artes de Narrativa Colima para Obra Publicada 2020 a Eduardo Antonio Parra por su obra Laberinto.   

The Harkness Dance Center announces a new Artist Workshop Series of online master classes with current and former Artists in Residence, featured choreographers and presented performers. Workshops take place every other Saturday throughout the fall starting on Saturday, September 26, offering access to some of the most engaging, insightful, and motivational artists currently creating work in the dance world.
